No, its the fact that the guy never brings anything to back himself up. Its the mentality of "this is the accepted story, so nothing else is possible". As long as something resonates in the zeitgeist, it is fact. If its fact, and there is so much out there to support your case, SUPPORT IT! As soon as you get into circular logic as the sole means to support your case, you are no longer worth talking to. I wouldn't call it a drive by, I'd say it's a comment on the state of your guy's "Arguement".

On one hand you have a guy who is willing to accept anything but the accepted truth, and on the other you have a guy who is unwilling to accept anything that is the accepted truth.
