If I'm guessing the comparable offer from New Jersey would be something like

Mercer, 1st, Silayev, Hameenaho

Probably came down to which dman the Canucks liked more between Buium and Silayev

I can’t believe they gave up Buium.

That’s pretty good too
Based on the caps contention cycle one of those firsts could have been high

Did Hughes ask for a trade, has that been reported?

Or does Vancouver know he's just not likely to re-sign?

3 writers from the Athletic graded the trade for both teams-

The Canucks got a B+, C+ and C.

Wild got a B- and two A's.

So is this basically Coronato, Zary, Potter and the Vegas pick?

Another reason the NHL needs to change the playoff format. One of Colorado, Minnesota, or Dallas will be eliminated in the first round. They're all miles ahead of any team in the Pacific. That doesn't even account for the reigning Presidents Trophy Winner. The Jets are better off going for a wildcard spot or tanking.

I realistically don't know how anyone could have hoped for more from the Canucks. Seems harsh.

He apparently told them he would like to be moved sooner rather than later.

And I'm not surprised. The guy looked dead inside after the game against the Flames.

Sounds like it safe to say he didn't exactly ask for a trade but would prefer to move sooner than later. So politely asked to leave and they obliged.

No, it's: Parekh + Zary/Frost + VGS 1st + prospect

He looked dead inside all last year too with the JT Miller/EP40 shenanigans. I don't think he was ready to be captain and then that poop storm happened while he was captain. Don't blame him at all for wanting out after that mess.

I'm looking at it as an over-all grade to the entire situation than the trade.

Trade was an A+, but they had to get that to just get a passing grade.

Pretty low return, according to CP if they aren't picked top 3 they are all 2nd pairing dmen or bottom 6 forwards. Would have expected more (sarcasm)

I don't think it's harsh, I think it's pretty accurate.

Quantity always SEEMS good in a trade, at the time, but usually much of it turns out mediocre. It is almost always the case that the team that gets the best player wins the trade.

This is a great trade for MIN.

It's also a really good trade for VAN, all things considered. And maybe Buium turns into a star. But Hughes might be the best player VAN has ever had, and he's 26.

A for MIN, and B for VAN, IMO
