It’s soooo early. A good week and a half stretch and they’re back in the middle of the pack or better. There’s no point in making judgements right now.

Same perimeter system, passive all over the ice, butter soft in the neutral zone.

Only difference to last year is Wolf isn't bailing them out.

Would love to know what people who think Huska is a good coach like about how the Flames play. Specifics about what they do well.

For me, a rebuild starts when you change over your core players and franchise players either age out or are flipped for youth. Simply sucking and getting some high draft picks while actually trying to compete is just straight up failure, not a rebuild.
The Devils are definitely not in a rebuild. They just sucked in 2023/24. A big part was awful goaltending. You can't call a team rebuilding just because their goalies are bad.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think this is a good team. I’d be fine with the Flames finishing dead last and getting McKenna.

If this is the way it's going to go, there's gonna be a lot of pain. Just play the youth as much as you can and give some semblance of hope if this is the best they can do.

I don’t think any coach gets them ahead of where they finished last year even if it had nothing to do with Huska’s system and it was all Wolf.

Every team that finishes last overall has a 75% chance of NOT drafting 1st overall now.

The Flames season has gone EXACTLY the way I wanted it to.

1) Beat the Oilers
2) Lose literally ever other game this season

Could not be happier

Literally looked like it was their first time on the ice together as a team tonight.

They played so bad it’s almost unbelievable

The worst part is that for a rebuilding team (regardless if management or ownership will even admit it, ridiculous) we have one rookie in the line up right now, Honzek, with a grand total of 0 points, yikes

If there was any illusion that the team should sign Andersson, that should be clearer now

Was just looking at the schedule from now to American Thanksgiving. Honestly, this could be the year the bottom falls out.

Mix in an injury or two, some player regression, and a timely trade or two (Andersson and Coleman/Kadri) this could be the year the Flames put themselves in position for a top 3 pick.

Parekh???

Klapka in his 1st full season. Coronato and Pachal in their 2nd full season. (30ish games in their first year prior).

Zary and Pospisil in their 3rd.

Kevin Bahl in his 4th season with 2 prior seasons with minimal action (6 years in the league), but is only 25.

I get that we want all kids in the lineup right away, but we haven't really had much in the way of top line prospects until the last couple of years. I'm not sure who you would be putting in the lineup right now that's NHL ready other than Kuznetsov, and he's a bottom pairing d-man.

As long as all of the fans who want a bad team buy tickets to the games there is nothing to worry about

Fans here yes.

The average fan attending games? Likely no.

There is a business reason why Flames owners won't allow a complete tear down rebuild.

They know that fan support will come way down at a time of a new building.

There were many empty seats at the Flames opener. Let's see if that trend continues.
