If the Oilers think Howard is going to be their new saviour boy are they in trouble. Not impressive at all

Completely agree. Doesn’t seem to have much game awareness. Trying to do everything by himself.

Suniev has been a play driver these 2 rookie games. Almost every shift his line makes solid offensive plays off his work.
Gridin not far behind.

King has looked legit good to my eye. Another hat in the ring for the 4C at some point this year?
Gridin and Suniev have been really strong for the most part. Gridin just has the swagger that you almost need to make an impact at this level at such a young age. Could see him being a hard cut in camp in spite of how easy it would usually be with a first year pro on a team flush with wingers.

Maybe King will be our future Backlund replacement?

Phillips is really impressing me. We all heard how raw he was, but he doesn't look as raw as I imagined him to be at all. This kid is impressive. Loved it when he turned the puck over, but was quick on his toes and did an amazing job to recover the puck. He is a good skater regardless of size, even his first step. Kanzig was even bigger than him, but where his game fell apart was the lack of a first step, but he had an elite top-level speed (Kanzig was crazy fast when he got going). However, it just goes to show you that when you don't have a good first step, the rest doesn't matter. Phillips has it. I am predicting this kid has a long NHL career.
TacoKing is also really continuing to impress with his 2-way game. Awesome instincts at both ends of the ice, fantastic anticipation, and a much better playmaker than I thought he would be. He really did shine playing with offensive players. He shows that he can play an offensive game.
Suniev has a fantastic skill-set. Wonderful patience with the puck, and he is hard to contain. Elite-level shot, but his playmaking/puck-handling is not far behind at all. He has a much more rounded offensive game than I assumed he had. I really thought he was much more of a passive 'shotgun' type of player than he really is - this kid is a catalyst out there.
Gridin I thought didn't do as well today as yesterday, but he is still very noticeable out there. Just so fast. Put him out on the ice with Parekh, and watch the Flames have a lightning fast transition.
I thought Morin played better today. Showed much more calmness with the puck, and had some great plays both offensively and defensively.
Honzek to me was more invisible today. He still had some flashes, and I think he makes the team this year, but just wasn't as impressive as he was yesterday.
Battaglia, Laing and Bell all took a step forward today, and I thought each one looked good on Friday. That's a really nice combination of size, skill and jam that every one of these kids have.
As an aside, I was really worried about the Flames coming out of this rebuild being on the smaller an softer side. Watching how many skilled players with size that the Flames seem to have really gives me hope. Anaheim looks like to be a future 'monster' team, as do a few other teams in the Pacific. Hopefully the Flames will draft a #1 center with size in the next draft or two, but the overall size and skill that this base has is actually impressive.

After watching the two games my comments are:
- Suniev is the most ready prospect out of that group.
- Phillips was a big surprise. I figured he’d be a big goofy goon. Not the case.
- Honzek and Gridin probably the next two ready forwards but didn’t show much in the second game.
- Brz is super slow. I don’t think he’s first in line for D.
- I think Bell would be a great 4th liner. Big, fast, physical
- Brisson has heart
- King very poised.
Lots of good players though. I think the Wranglers will be really good.

Was at the game. Phillips was complete piss and vinegar for the Oilers, it was awesome. Dude just took it to them this evening. Went with my aunt who is a huge Oilers fan and she said “who’s that gigantor on your team? Wish we had him.” I smiled.

He took a pic with Warrener and then the fist bump from King, he was jacked right up.
The popcorn also helped soften the blow, but he did ask where he was lol.
He figures he was in some seats watching too

This camp is going to be a battle ground. Stromgren knows he is getting lost in the shuffle and this showing will only crank up the heat for him.
I have been espousing I! Dar! Suniev! For a while glad ro see him impressing.
