Tampa should have let him rot & see how he does playing in the NCAA against stronger more talented rosters next year.

I'm work friends with a dad of a top player with TBL. He says the organization thought Howard was talented but entitled and they aren't really upset to see him go.

And then have him walk as a Ufa? Vs getting a really good prospect in Oreilly?

they would have received a 2nd I believe given failure to come to terms with a 1st rounder given a bonafide contract offer

I agree this is better for them both way (Oreilly higher value than a 2nd- this isn't a slam dunk btw but I think its true) and extract something out of the Oilers instead of them getting a free prize

Shocker.

Time will tell, but I think Tampa did relatively well in a tough situation (= everybody knew that Howard was not willing to sign an ELC there). They got a really good kid in O'Reilly. Now I don't know who really stirred the drink in London, but he certainly had a better D+1 year than Howard, who struggled in his freshman year. I wouldn't be surprised if this trade paid off for Tampa in a couple of years.

Ten minutes and if the results aren't there he's dropped down the lineup or put in the press box as what happened with Skinner and a variety of wingers that haven't clicked with McDavid or Draisaitl.

A punchable face. I hope Lombo is invited to tune him whilst McDavid and Draisaitl hold his arms back!

Well it's like the Charlie Chaplin mustache, forever unclean because someone else made it that way. Besides his name was Dwight...where'd they get Ike from?

In a lot of ways, winning the hobey baker is a bit of a kiss of death. There are few great NHLers but a long list of very mediocre players that have won. Not much too see here.

I've read that ‘Ike’ was intended as a short form of ‘Eisenhower’, kind of a family in-joke. His brother Edgar was Big Ike, Dwight was Little Ike. Eventually the big brother came to his senses, but Dwight did not like his given name (can you blame him?) and stuck with Ike.

Isaac reminds me of the love boat.

Maybe this new Oiler could pick up some shifts at Mavi’s bar if it doesn’t work out.

Bussing tables at the Trove Bar to earn "Connor Dollars," A hundred Connor Dollars earns an extra 5 seconds of ice time. LOL.

Edmonton wound up paying a significant price, sending away Sam O’Reilly. This is a player the Oilers traded up to get in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft
I'd say they traded down not up.

They gave up pick 31 (2025) for pick 32 (2024).
