Odd about Vladar. Good looking goalie who does all the right things. But his numbers are not good.

I don’t think Cooley is some undiscovered talent who is suddenly going to take the league by storm and match Wolf’s success. I do believe, however, that Vladar has consistently proven to be a below average backup, and we already know what we have in him. Before next season, we need to know what we have in Cooley. And he has earned a call up. So let’s bring him up and see what he is at the NHL level on an extended viewing. Let him sink or swim, it’s his last chance as a pro. The Flames aren’t likely going to miss Vladar’s zero wins in the last seven starts anyway. Then we will know what our needs are for a backup next season.

Just not sure what that something is. If its a 5th rd pick or whatever, it may be more worthwhile to keep him and let the two G's finish the season together.

No, I'd rather have a 5th round pick and give the scouts another crack at drafting a decent player than 7 games of Vladar. $2.2M on a multi-year deal for what? Negative GSAE? You can spend league minimum and get that.

Run support is a weird thing as well. I have no explanation (see also Comrie other than last game). Is it better opposition on defence in his games? Is it lack of creativity because of nerves (I don't buy it because they don't play more defensively)? Is it just chance?
