I don't get overly attached to players but Andersson's been one of my favorites and I would be sad to see him go as to me he could be the next team captain. However if a team makes a substantial offer of picks and/or prospects I would hope the organization would pull the trigger. Unfortunately his timeline of winning just doesn't fit with the Flames and I think both parties would have more ultimate success parting ways.

"I love it here and want to stay" is the sort of answer you get from someone who wants to, and expects to, re-sign.
"It's out of my hands" is what a guy says when it's up in the air.

Sure, but Andersson, specifically, didn’t have to take the one on one interview. He took the interview and, I bet, knew in advance that was the primary question at hand.

Doesn’t seem like much of an in depth interview and even has quotes from Conroy.
I wonder if it’s missing some more content could be a wide range of questions also involving the 4 nations exhibition series.
It’s Eric Francis and he knows what he’s doing.

There you go. It wasn’t in depth. Sounds like the whole point of it was to publicly make it known there is appetite on both side to work towards a deal.
Again, that doesn’t necessarily mean they will get there but my reading between the lines here is don’t expect an Andersson trade this year. Otherwise, why would Andersson have taken the interview at all?

Well he got half of it. He’s in the US and further from his family.

LA has been a playoff team the last 3 years but I bet in the lean years after their cup winss everyone was screaming at Blake to trade Doughty. He didn't and even though he's been injured so far this year, in 2023/24 he's was their #1 defenseman who led his team in D scoring & total ice time at >25:00/game. It's not a crazy assumption that he would've put up similar stats this year if he wasn't injured. Raz loves it here and is willing to sign long term. Defensemen of his caliber are rare & he won't be Doughty's age for another 7 years. PAY THE MAN!

Comparing a Norris winning 2x cup winner to Andersson lol. Common now.
His numbers having dropping every year now and the contract is over 30. If the Flames sign him we might as well go all in and lock up Backlund and Coleman.

“If he wasn’t injured” is such a cop out for ignoring age curves.

Repeating it over and over doesn't make the statement any less ridiculous

With everyone talking about the importance (Rightly so.) of 'drafting and developing talent' it strikes me a little odd at the hurry to move out a legit Top 4 defenseman who seemingly wants to be here long term which the Flames drafted and developed.
I mean ya if the contract ask is insane or the trade offer is too good you have to consider it of course. While there are prospects in the pipeline we think will be really good they are still 'magic beans' at this point.
If Rasmus wants to be here for the next 7-8 years then that is a good thing we should all be pumped for!

What’s ridiculous is comparing him to a Norris winner and 2x cup champ and Olympic gold medalist.
Just as ridiculous as saying he’s one of the top defenceman in the game today and will be at age 36 or how it’s a franchise changing moment if he signs for 8 years here.

Dude you have to start to try and actually understand what points people are making. He wasn't comparing Andersson to Doughty or saying they are the sae. He was providing an example of where a team didn't trade a veteran through a re-building cycle, and instead kept them and they are now part of a team competing again.
You have a pattern of mis-representing and over simplifying points people are making.

What else are you talking about, then? He’s been elevated to a top pairing role, playing with a partner who I’m sure you would agree doesn’t belong in the top pairing, and plays against other teams’ top players. His play isn’t declining, he’s just being asked to take on the hardest shifts with a partner who isn’t equipped for that role.
Now, this is far from a criticism of Bahl, he’s been a surprisingly good addition. But he's a 2nd pair D being asked to play on the top pairing.

Precisely.
Last year, they had Hanifin, Andersson, Tanev and Weegar
This year, Andersson and Weegar are carrying the weight with Bahl and Pachal/Hanley/Miromanov
Andersson is being asked to do a lot more heavy lifting - arguing that he is declining is pretty ridiculous

The perfect scenario for Andersson is to trade him, tell him to chase a cup for two years, then, should he become a UFA: "the Flames will be on the rise in a couple years, and would be very interested in trying to sign you "
And no it isn't collusion, he is currently a Flame so they are allowed to talk to him, and they're simply throwing out a hypothetical.

You can go look up the advanced stats I’ve already posted them. They have been going down since his career year in 21/22. I guess we can blame Bahl for that as well?
The same can be said about Andersson a 2nd pair d being asked to play on the top pair that isn’t good enough. Weegar makes others better
Andersson is like a Brodie he’s a top pairing player when he has the perfect partner to elevate his play.
