Yes, I have seen Iginla laugh during a loss. And countless other players too.

And I have laughed at something funny, while at a funeral - and it doesn't mean I didn't respect the deceased or the situation. Human beings are capable of finding positive moments in negative situations. And frankly, anyone who can't - that reflects poorly on them.

The situation with Huberdeau accounted for maybe 3 seconds - anyone who has a problem with that is an idiot.

This is simply wrong. Your perception of 'elite competitors' just isn't real

Not everyone is the ferocious superior leader like McDavid and can dig in 100% of the time.

No players switch is always turned on. Remember “don’t wake up Iginla”?

“Don’t wake up Iginla” was because he would take over a game if you pissed him off.

I meant the switch is always turned on as in hate to lose. But I can see that a lot of people disagree with me so I’ll put down the sword

I’m so confused though. What is hating to lose ? Like you can’t make any facial expression.

What if they watched a Barrie shift and they started laughing. Is that them loving to lose ?

I don’t think many people enjoy losing lol.

Hating to lose isn’t laughing on the bench when you’re getting smoked. I guess I see things differently

Yes, because if he was in a mellow mood he wasn't "switched on", as you say.

Iggy turned into the best player on the planet when he was pissed off. He wasn’t laughing it up with the boys on the bench when we were down a goal, never mind down 5-1. That’s the difference

Iginla was the last true power forward. I hope his boys bring that back to the NHL.

Positive emotions are fine, but common..

When your the highest paid player on a team (by far) and your team is getting absolutely smoked.. show a little bit of fire.

At the very least don't chortle it up with the other team. Time and place man...

This isn't Saturday night beer league. He's making 10s of millions. Show a little compete

It might be “old school” but it’s the dorky kind of put-on machismo that is mocked for good reason. If he’s laughing, he’s too relaxed. If he’s crying, you’d hate that, too. You want him to hold a perfect grimace to prove to you that he’s a competitor… uhhh… OK. Weird.

Laughing at the twisting of Iginla to suit what the poster (sch19lks) is trying to prove. So you agreed with the phrase "you don't wake Iginla up" but if he's not woken up by the other team then isn't he closer to the fictious Huberdeau you're presenting to us all?

You know what really grinds my gears, when a team is losing by several goals and they score a meaningless goal themselves and the players have the audacity to celebrate the goal. The veterans should go smack them upside the head, sit them down and tell them they're losers, look at the score. That'll show them that losing is unacceptable and engrain a positive winning culture for the younger generation.

If any player even smirks when the team is losing, straight to Rapid City.

Maybe after the game. During the game just doesn’t look right optically. Who knows what happened, what was said or whether they knew each other ect.

But when your job is to win hockey games and you’re getting your ass handed to you. Having a giggle fest with your opponent makes it look like you don’t take that responsibility very seriously.
