McLeod will contribute immediately and not be a concern for the team about how he develops. Savoie, while a very skilled player, is a smallish player and will need to find the right team to play for. Edmonton can take the gamble as they are going to be hurting for talent in the near future, especially if McJesus and Drysaddle blow town.

I think Savoie has value to the Oilers, but more so next year and if Leon and McDavid stay. They will need a Skinner replacment as they will not have the cap to sign guys. Great trade for them if the big boys stay.
If they leave they will be screwed anyways so who cares?
McLeod could be a great fit in Buffalo, I do agree. I've talked about this with them and the Devils, they don't need stars they need their Coleman and Backlunds. McLeod isn't as good as Backlund but he plays a similar role and Backlund was slow to develop in his early years. Mcleod numbers are similar at the same age.
Trade remnds me of the Holtz for Cotter trade. Seem off that the Devils did that, but if Holtz does not crack the top 2 lines, he's not a checker and may amount to nothing if he can't crack the top 2 lines. Cotter will play a valauble role for the Devils.
