Super hyped to see group 2!
Stromgren has been my dark horse for two years now.

Top 3 standouts from the first session for me:

65 - William Stromgren. Big, fluid, great hands, great shot, moves well. The best forward in this group. He will play in the NHL this year, and it would not be at all shocking if he made the team out of camp.

46 - Luke Misa. Not big, but very smooth. In the right position a lot. Very calm. Needs a few years to fill out. Hard, accurate shot - he was picking corners all practice.

56 - Henry Mews. Very confident with the puck on his stick. He’s a better skater than Brzustewicz. One thing that really stood out - when pucks bounced on him or he didn’t get his shot off the way he wanted, he didn’t care. He didn’t break stride. He played through it at full speed and progressed to the next part of the drill.

Honorable mention:

78 - Ise Parekh. Skates like he spent the last 15 years chasing Zayne around the pond. Doesn’t look to have his brother’s elite puck skills, but he moved better than probably any of the D except Mews.

Underwhelming:

48 - Hunter Brzustewicz. Skating was clunky and wooden. Seemed to be fighting it. Passes in drills were often off target, and didn’t seem to have his shot working. He’ll be better tomorrow, but I didn’t see someone ready to take a spot on the big club.

Overall, like what I saw from the group on day 1.

Up next, our first chance to see what Zayne can in person.

Have to admit, I had totally written Stromgren off as a nothing burger.

It'll be pretty nice if he turns into a decent NHLer

Good size, good skater, good skill level, with a good shot. really took off last half of last year and doesnt seem to be slowing down.

Some consternation when he was picked with some of the names on the board but the scouts seem to be the ones winning here on the long term. All the base tools are there for a really good player.

Gracias Amigo! Appreciate you taking the time.

I'm sure most of y'all have seen this but I was curious. The goal he scored was definitely a good one. https://www.nhl.com/flames/news/flam...with-wranglers

That Parekh kid is all kinds of fast and a hell of a shot.

Strömgren didn't show a ton in Europe because young players, especially NHL drafted role players, often don't get a ton of leash as teenagers over there. But the scouting scuttlebutt on him was "smart, toolsy, high floor" because of flashes of what he showed in U18 and U20.

Id say 90% chance ZP gets a cup of coffee. And 50/50 he sticks with the team.

Grushnikov looks like he is close to nhl ready. Just the entire package of his game. Better skater than I was expecting.

Parekh’s skill set is in the same tier as Gaudreau and Tkachuk in terms of quality of shot and hands.

The question I have is how did he fall to 9.

When he was drafted, there were many of us hoping the Flames would pick Logan Stankoven, who has since gone on to dominate the AHL and looks like he will be an impactful winger in the NHL as of this year. This unfortunately has skewed our perspective on Stromgren.

Since being drafted, Stromgren had very pedestrian numbers in Sweden, followed by a very slow start to his AHL career. He started to improve significantly the second half of last season in the AHL from what I have read.

I think when it's all said and done we are going to be thanking our lucky stars that Ottawa took Yakemchuk.

Nothing against Yak, but Parekh just seems like an insane prospect.

Honzek looking better than he was. His shot is excellent. Still very skinny.

I was hoping that Honzek would put on 10 to 15 lbs over the past year, but it doesn't seem like he has. It should be fairly easy at that age and frame, with proper effort and discipline.
Maybe the injuries affected this.

But it seems like his English has improved quite a bit.
