Meh his point of contact was the elbow but he never stuck it out, Morrissey's head was at the level of his elbow, and it didn't stick out and until well after the hit, and jumping wasn't so much to be dirty was to not have his legs stuck on the ice on impact.

They are going to send Pospisil a message with the next suspension. With him being a Flame also part of the suspension factor, he may get 5+ games.

I heard the hit on the radio and after seeing the video it's not as bad as I thought. He definitely left his feet but his elbow was tucked when he made contact - I can see the 5 and a game but I don't think it warrants a suspension on its own.

Given Pospisil's history I could see him getting a few games though.

Yes, that's what the rule book says. If the original call is a major, it can be reviewed to confirm the major or reduce it. The rule book doesn't say anything about reviewing a called minor that I could find.

20.6 On-Ice Video Review of Major Penalties – Referees shall review all
plays that result in the assessment of any Major Penalty (other than a

I am looking for a video of it so we can freeze it at moment of contact. But every time I watch it, he goes into the hit with his elbow down. The question is: when does it start to come up? During, or after the hit?

It is hard to tell.

But I think the refs succumbed to the broken stick and the crowd reaction. I also think he got a reputation call.

2 different plays but you can review Pospisil hit and change to a 5. But you can’t review McBaby grabbing an opposition players stick and putting it against his hips to get a power play. What a joke.
