If that's true, it's weird that they didn't wait until after last weekend's games to activate him. He could have had nearly a full week's practice, then 3 (to 5) games to play in rather than burning 2 games of his eligibility when they knew he wasn't going to play.

To be fair I'm just going by Ryan Pike's tweet about the matter...and TBH he's not always the most accurate on these things so maybe that's not the case.

If Kylington agrees to a conditioning stint extension, which he probably would considering he has been out for a year and a half, I can't see the NHL saying no when the guy has battled hard just to get to this point. Clearly the Flames aren't just trying to game the system and it would be about what is best for the player.

Maybe he doesn't need it though. It would be surprising, but I won't underestimate him.

It's weird that the CBA doesn't specify if it's games played by the player or team. It just says the longer of 6 days or 3 games.

I guess since they don't specify it's games played by the player, it might mean it's 3 games by the team. My assumption was it meant games played by the player because that seems more logical... but the league isn't always logical.

Also, I guess they don't want players to be parked in the AHL indefinitely without clearing waivers, so it does make sense to be 3 scheduled games for that reason. It does seem odd that they didn't just wait 2 days to activate him if that's the case.

Either way, I'm sure they'll request the extension and he'll play both games this weekend.

I asked the league: it's games played by the team.

And it is very dumb that the CBA doesn't specify which. But there are something like 25 spots in the CBA where they're vague like that.

I always thought it was weird that LA's farm team played in Ontario. Suddenly it makes a lot more sense.

Is it bad that I care more about this game than the Flames game?
