Feel bad for Emil as he had nothing left in the 5th set and also took a medical timeout. Meddy delivers a bagel in set 5 and will take on Felix in round 3.

Federer was a slow starter, he was kind of a choker at first, isn't going to amount to anything.

Gaby and Erin also kicked off their Aussie Open campaign with a straight sets win in women's doubles. Gaby is also playing mixed doubles and plays her first match with partner Nathaniel Lammons later today.

Upset pick for tonight is Luca Van Assche to send Oikos packing.

Andreeva with 5 straight games to turn a likely breadstick against into serving for the match. What kind of tennis is that? Zero fear tennis, that’s what.

Coco loses two games to Alycia Parks winning 6-0 6-2. I think Coco likely also beats Leylah tonight, but a) I would have liked to watch that match and b) Leylah almost certainly wins more than two games against Coco.

I’ve never seen Joker play so I bucked up and bought a ticket.

Old man Mannarino knocking out Big Ben Shelton in five sets is quite the result. His reward is a date with Novak.

For those who haven't experienced Djokovic live, you'd better hurry as he might only have 11 or 12 years left in the tank

Too bad as I was hoping for a Shelton vs Novak rematch to see if there would be any fireworks. Good on Mannarino for playing some of his best tennis well into his 30's.

Mannarino plays with 24lb racket tension, how is that even possible?

It's bizarre, but maybe it's a combination of a pretty heavy racquet and a short takeback that allows him to control a string bed that behaves like a trampoline. He also possesses a silky pair of mitts as shown below:
