You’d also have to assume there is a lot of goodwill between the two parties on how this was handled. I don’t think Kylington could have asked for more from his employer. If the Flames want to re-sign him I’m sure it’ll happen.

A Pelletier return is not looking good. Fingers crossed for a Wolf, though.

From a scrabble efficiency point of view, Zary indeed may have the best name. Pelletier the worst. Zary gets you 14 from just 4 letters, while Pelletier's long-ass name only nets 11.

Lindholm for Holz would make sense. Creates space to upgrade elsewhere. $'s and characters.

I’ll be that guy - you can’t use names in Scrabble.

For sure. I would think absolute best case scenario would be several weeks. And of course would include an AHL stint.
Looking at the Wrnagler's schedule, they are on an 8-game homestand from Dec 28 through Jan 12th. That would be a perfect opportunity to get a conditioning stint in, if he is ready.
But that's BEST case IMO, and it could well take longer.

Sure, he is a pending UFA. However, the Flames have been EXEMPLARY in dealing with him. Why would he not re-sign here?
And why would the Flames not want him? They are in the process of trading at least 2, and maybe 3 defensemen this year. Kylington is a free asset that is already in the fold. Why would they not offer him a contract?
I think that if Kylington is in the NHL next year, it is a near certainty that it will be in Calgary.

Absolutely. There is no way that he can't appreciate how the Flames have handled this.
It would be interesting to see how the Oilers would handle the same situation. I'd hazard a guess that it would be far less professional.

Maybe the Swedes still with the Flames makes a difference, as well. Who knows?

My source says the Wranglers have signed a bunch of Korean players for that very reason. Their names are Kim, Pak, and Oh.

The interesting part would be the contract offer. 1 year $1 million seems fair to prove he's capable of playing before getting a bigger contract.

I agree, something close to league min plus bonuses based on games played (if allowed under the CBA).

I would prefer a 2 year deal, and I wouldn't be opposed to it being between 2-2.25.
I think he will be effective once he is back playing. 2mil isn't a crazy over pay, but if it gets you 2 years to see how he bounces back. It is better than a 1 year and he walks or needs a massive bump. Gives you a little wiggle room. This is all assuming he at least gets back to playing at least 10 games this year.
That is assuming he doesn't test free agency this summer anyhow, but he needs to start playing sooner rather than later if he plans on doing that.

If the likes of Hanifan and Tanev do leave having a thid guy like Kylington still here becomes a pretty big need.

Honestly any talk of a contract feels premature at this point. You'd need to be quite confident that he will be on the ice.

You can’t use all 7 letters on Zary. With a couple of pieces in the right place on the board, it’s possible with Pelletier
Gotta go for the extra 50 points
