At this point you like to hear it, but the fact that a 5 game sample size can so dramatically change a team's approach or direction moving forward is scary.
If we rattle five wins off in a row - are talks all the sudden back on?
It might have more to do with things we don’t see, rather than the losing skid.
Sometimes people let you down and you need to adjust the plan.
Okay sure. But it's still functionally irrelevant, at the end of the day. To have a successful rebuild, you keep rebuilding until you have enough pieces, regardless of how long it takes.
Okay, and people keep saying things to the tune of "we could be wandering the desert for 10 years rebuilding", so I'm simply saying to maximize that value of your veteran assets right now, rather than letting them age or get devalued in a "hockey trade", to try and make the inevitable rebuild as smooth as possible - fully knowing that these things are never linear and never go how you hope they do.
1. Make "hockey trades" this season in a tight cap world for Lindholm and Hanifin.
2. Get the same value back for the newly acquired players.
It's like doing the summer of Brad all over again.
Sure, I don’t disagree but I think you’ll be disappointed if you are expecting futures returns that are significantly better than what Bouwmeester and Iginla got.
If the Flames don’t do exactly what I would do down to every single trade and signing and call their strategy exactly what I insist it publicly be referred to as… I’M GONNA BE SO PISSED!!

You know, I see you make this post in so many threads where a rebuild, or the venture of, is being calmly discussed, and the only thing it ever does is rile people up unnecessarily.

Lindholm and Hanifin are probably pretty choked they didnt get on the 'Gravy Train' before Conroy put a stop to it!
You would have to think there could be some bitterness towards the players that did cash in who are the same ones bringing the team down and ruining it.

Addition by subtraction.
Youth movement will be more fun to watch, will hasten collection of high picks and will prime this team to be good for the new arena.
I’m not too fussed about what Conroy gets.hopefully it’s just draft picks.

Fabulous, move them all.

The Canucks pretty much flipped Horvat for Hronek and it looks like a decent move now. There are other picks prospects and players involved but the main piece they got back for Horvat was the key piece to get Hronek.
I think they should take a longer approach but if they are able to do some Hamilton like trades to land a young cornerstone piece I am somewhat open to that. If they add some extra 1st and 2nds for their UFA’s and they flip some of those for a 22 year old RFA who they can sign long term I am open to that especially if they get a top 3 pick with their own first.
