You should apply for Peter Hanlon's job. You staunchly defend the Flames and everyone on it until literally the second they leave or aren't coming back and then you turn on them before the body's cold, lol.

Well can’t say it doesn’t suck as a fan of this team to see many of its core pieces request to leave the team. It’s obvious the time is right for a rebuild, we all see it, but it still sucks to be a fan of this team right now. It’s been a horrible year. What else can you say really?
I’m excited for the future, but I hope the future doesn’t entail more great players asking to leave.

Johnston on TSN is also confirming Hanifin, Backlund, and Toffoli are not signing in extensions and speculates it may impact Lindholm's desire to extend.

And when the losing gets too bad you get yourselves into a full Oiler situation where you start destroying players developmentally. For me I'd like to see Tanev and Zadorov re-upped stick around for the first couple years if possible if the other 5 UFAs get moved

Andersson is signed.
Kylington is also an upcoming UFA, but I would be surprised if he asks to be moved.
Gilbert
The annual Stone signing is virtually guaranteed now.
Maybe Stetcher.
In addition, Flames will be receiving cap from these trades, and I am sure some of these will be defencemen. Plus they can sign some defencemen from the UFA front.
The biggest thing for me is that with so many teams so tight against the cap, they can probably end up trading for a fairly good defencemen for pennies on the dollar.
Otherwise, yes, I agree that you don't want to feed your team to the wolves (especially considering you want to bring Wolf along well). I just think there are going to be many options. As good as Tanev? Probably not, but there will be enough bodies to legitimately fill glaring holes.

95 point team and probably a playoff spot.
24 games vs the Sharks, Ducks, Canucks and Oilers please.

This is fascinating and exactly what this club needs.
I am curious though as to why so many players want out. Don't believe the team will be competitive anytime soon? Conflict in the room?
I mean they all could have had a fresh start under a new GM and coach. Really curious as to what the main issue is.

Feaster didn't rebuild anyway, he did the tear down, Treliving did the vast majority of the rebuild.

No seriously. How is this opposite though?

Toffoli = future 1st

I've seen way too many upcoming rookie goalies fizzle out with this team. Hope he's the next Kipper but not counting on anything until he plays in the NHL.

The Pacific isn’t terrible but has some terrible teams which allow average teams to get more points and good teams to pad their points
Compared to Floridas division which is a powerhouse for example

No sleep for Conroy & team this week.
Call it rebuild, retool, Young Guns 2, who cares,
Trade all the 2024 expiring deals and anyone else who wants out or has interest.
Lots of draft picks this year to finally restock the cupboards,
Trade whoever's still of value at the deadline for additional futures.
If this isn't the mindset I'll be shocked and disappointed.

I agree that it wouldn't be totally scorched earth. I'd still be a lot more comfortable with Tanev staying, he is such a good role model and I think would really be a huge asset for Wolf. Keep him trade big Z?
