He's a play driver and super creative.

I guess if Tre really loves Kylington. I wouldn’t trade Andersson or Weegar for him.

Anderson and Weegar are good to win now or a quick retool. You want to keep them for sure.

If we are moving Hanifin, we need a mid to lower 20’s 1 season to RFA.
The RFA Hanifin brings back will be much worse than Nylander. If they go the the retool route than he is a great target.

I keep Oliver all day over Noah.

I bet given the chance, Oliver could eat more game time then Noah easily.

I’m not as high on Kylington. He is the most chaotic defenseman I’ve ever watched and I think he’ll end up as 4/5 type of guy. I’d be happy to be proven wrong.

It is highly unlikely Kylington gets selected. He had done nothing and barely played the season going into the draft. Francis’ crystal ball would have had to been on another level to predict Kylington’s breakout with Calgary let alone thinking it would have happened in Seattle.

So who would they have picked?

Because the teams mandate is to try and win now. You also don't trade for the guy unless you are sure you can sign him.

I don't fault those who have that opinion, Noah is consistent and sometimes that's preferred..

Oliver is a gambling defensemen defensively that trusts his feet and offensive skill in the attack ... It's why he looked so good with Tanev, he was covering a lot of those gambles and 50/50 puck battles.

TJ has a modified no trade list, I would bet Calgary is on that list. He definitely would not want to leave Toronto.

Does that player/scenario exist though? If so, who?

I think the Flames would be hard pressed to find a young player under control with the kind of upside Nylander has. Those guys typically don’t get dealt without a young 20’s stud coming back.

Looking over team rosters, there really aren’t a lot of teams in win now mode who need a #1-2 LD.

The Kings just signed Gavrikov and extended Mikey Anderson. Can’t see them pushing either of those guys to the 3rd pairing.

The Pens are woeful at LD, but all of their decent players have NTCs, they’re up agains the cap, and they have nothing in the prospects cupboard to offer.

One dark horse possibility is Washington. They’re desperately thin at LD, and they have some cap space opening up. They’re not rebuilding (still trying to win with OV), but they have the #8 overall pick. I wonder if they’d be willing to part with it to go for one more big push. A fly in the ointment is the possibility Michkov might still be available at their pick.

So if you want to go that way it's Debrincat and I think Weegar would be more appealing to them than Noah.

He's local after all.

No way in hell I trade Weegar for Debrincat, even if he was willing to extend.

I think/hope the Flames wouldn’t put themselves in that position unless a third team enters the picture and they flip DeBricat for ___?

…..I’m in the ‘show me’ camp but if you’re right, that’s a big win for the Flames.

Lucic and made him captain? Gawdin or Phillips? Both looked better than Kylington. Who knows, but Kylington was a nonentity to anyone but hopeful Flames fans. The guy played 8 games the season leading up to the expansion draft. He wasn’t getting selected.
