Once those guys all graduate (which could realistically be next season) our prospect pool is going to be BLEAK.
I mean, having a shallow prospect pool because you graduated a bunch of players is probably the best reason to have no depth, but still.

What a dumb post

When Bedard gets bounced well before the championship you can say similar things

The 2023 draft will inject a couple notables into the pool.

I will take that reason for decimation any day of the week. I love an NHL roster with a strong youthful presence.

I like how Backlund and Pelletier were the ones to text him.

Backlund because he’s going to be the next captain and represents his new teammates.

Pelletier because he just couldn’t stop himself, he had to do it

Speaks volumes when the kid texts the new college signing before the guys with the two largest contracts on the team.

Backlund, the captain, is a given. He IS the Flames.

But I thought (according to the Debbie Downers on CP) that Coronato would never sign. Funny how none of those posters seem to be around this thread or acknowledge they were completely wrong.

I'm sure the kid had literally dozens upon dozens of texts today. That he singled out two Flames players doesn't mean they were the only ones.

No, just don't do this stuff. You guys think you're biting but on the "right, justified side" in calling others out, but honestly, the juvenile "I told ya so's" are just annoying no matter what side it's coming from.

Plus, from my readings there was some skepticism based on past experiences rather than the "he will never sign" type posts you're attacking. Just be happy, you don't have to make it like this.

I expect he’s the guy traded in the off season. At least one of the pending UFA’s has to be.

Agreed, I was one of the ones worried he wouldn't sign here, but pumped he did. Cant wait to see him in Flames silks.

It was the Harvard factor. Just being a worrywart i guess.

The I told you so's from either side get old on any given topic.

I'm fine with it in this case because the pessimism was unwarranted. There was never any indication he was leaning any other way and people peddling worst case scenarios on here gets old fast. Negativity for the sake of negativity based on nothing is annoying.

So while in most cases it's not necessary to rub it in after the fact, I'm kind of okay with a little drubbing here. Some people had it coming, especially if they slipped out the bathroom window when the signing was announced after beating the negativity drum pre-signing.

I agree with the last part but Backlund won't bring a lot back due to being 35, one of Lindholm, Mangiapane or Toffoli is likely gone.

Oh man they easily equal the "negative opinions" at this point. It's so fruitless and frustrating to read from both sides. Just post your damn honest opinions and stop worrying about what others are posting. Just scroll by.

Said it in the other thread but the guy moved should be Mangiapane. Might take a minor sweetener because of the cap hit, but I'm sure another team thinks he can rebound and will give him a shot.

Shedding that cap should help with their ability to tinker in the off season and fill out a full roster (with youngsters) without being handcuffed.

I don't even think you'd need a sweetener for Mangiapane, personally. He's one year removed from an incredible output season, and a lot of GM's would see A) He's only got two years left and B) The Flames are in disarray this season and other stars aren't producing, in our system we'll get him back to a 30 goal scorer, no problem.

What GMs are saying that? Yes, the Flames have struggled but is Eatbread really getting back to 30 goals anytime soon? It's not like he makes $2 million.

I would much rather move Zadorov than Mangiapane

I sure hope you're wrong on this one. I wasn't all that surprised about what happened last summer, but if the Flames trade Backlund I would cry. He legitimately hates Vancouver and Edmonton and loves Calgary. And contrary to what people were saying at the time of the signing, he's actually underpaid at this point and having a career season. And shows up in the playoffs. It doesn't surprise me in the least that Backlund was the one to welcome Coronato.

It's been a ####ing joke the Flames never named a captain this year.
I now the jokes Sutters the captian. But no wonder the Flames suck this year Sutters the captian, the coach and Gm (of conspiracy theories are believed) just brings me to a old Homer qoute " In theory communism works Marge, in theory. "
