What? of course it does

You used top 13 because it's the worst possible outcome for the Islanders...it's unlikely they end up in that exact spot

The most likely scenario is probably that it bumps to next year and becomes an unprotected first... which is a HUGE risk for a team that might not be much better next season.

I dont see the Islanders making it - so realistically if the Canucks get a pick its 13-16, which in a deep draft could be a really good pick.

This year is supposed to be 2003, 2013, or 2015 deep, which means a good player will be there, Canucks just have to make the right pick.

They would be drafting 13th if the season ended right now based on points percentage.

Well, that's where they sit right now. I can amend the statement to say two 'top 16 picks' if you think that's more fair.

I don't think Florida is having a party right now for trading a first round pick to Montreal for 30 games of Ben Chiarot.

You can say whatever you like...them having two top 13 picks is unlikely...which was my original comment

Islanders are also adding a guy on pace for 52 goals, just might improve their team a bit

Good thing for the Isles is they win the tiebreaker against any team that they are potentially tied with outside of maybe Buffalo.

When did demko say he wanted out?

I sure hope they go to the Cup Finals and get swept by the Flames. That'd be the optimal outcome.

Right now, I see the Canucks improving their own draft odds by trading Horvat and picking up another highly valuable pick, likely to be in the vicinity of the Flames pick. They also got two other players that they can move for additional picks.

When the goal is to make your team worse it's not really that hard to "win"

I thought they would get more for this player

Have to admit as far as getting a 1st round pick in the deal , Vancouver did as good as they could have hoped for , getting the islanders pick. All the other rumours were Horvat going to Carolina or the Avs .

Only if he can keep shooting 21.7%, when his career average is 14%.

Honestly it will be interesting to see what happens going down the stretch.

Their 5v5 productuon in the 3 seasons prior to this one:

Beauvillier: 28 goals, 71 points, 9.52% shooting
Horvat: 28 goals, 74 points, 8.75% shooting percentage.

Difference in counting stats being that Horvat played double the PP time Beavullier did (671 to 338), so had double the points (45 vs 22).

Then this year Horvat has 16 goals shooting a ridiculous 20.25% (!) at 5v5, while Beauvillier has 6 goals at 5v5 shooting a career low 6.82%.

So if Horvat stops shooting at his clip, and Beauvillier starts shooting closer to his career clip then who knows who actually has better production down the stretch.

I think it's a safe bet that Horvat is better down the stretch. The Islanders will improve, question is how much

It was reported today by Farhan Lalji TSN that people close to the situation are confirming that Demko does not want to be in Vancouver.

Demko has been on a rebuilding team basically his whole career other than the bubble playoffs...a year they may or may not have actually made it.

Why stay there? they are gonna be garbage for a while

Canucks were 28th in the league in 2016
7 years later that are about they are about the same

Nah, probably take him 50 games to learn the new system

I have a feeling LA goes for Demko and attaches a 1st to get rid of Petersen.
