How big of a sample size do we need before we stop bickering about each individual goal and just accept Vladar is the guy right now?

I don’t know a single poster who has suggested anything other than that. Markstrom played on a BTB, and two other games out of the previous 6. It’s Vladar right now and everyone knows it.
The discussion is around why the wins and losses are so one sided between the goalies when there’s no real difference in their save stats or how they look.

Don't join any Facebook Flames fan groups. Even if Markstrom gets a win letting in only one goal a lot of people are complaining about him.
The problem with many fans is a severe lack of patience. Darryl doesn't make many sudden or drastic changes unless he's forced to via player injuries or trades etc. He eases players into larger roles unless they show that they're more than ready right now.

There are very few negative or positive posters on CP; most can be either, based on the team's play and results.
There's only so much to say after a good win.
Losses (especially to bad team) get more critique and commentary and more debate about that's going on.
It's really not difficult to understand why losses produce longer threads.

I would say (Chicago game aside, did not see that one but heard it was a ####show for the team and not Markstrom) that there is a difference in their safe stats and how they look. Vladar has a much higher first period save percentage. Markstrom looks better in garbage time. He is like the fantasy football QB who you love to have on your team because he gets points in the 4th quarter after the game is out of reach. I am personally way more confident that Vladar makes the big saves when the game is 0-0 or 1-1. Conversed I think Markstrom makes way more big saves when the Flames are down 3-1 or 4-1 than Vladar does when the Flames are up 3-1 or 4-1. Vladar is prone to giving up soft goals then the Flames have a 3 goal lead. Can’t compare what Vladar would do when the Flames are down 3-1 or 4-1 because outside of the Chicago game when he came in in relief there is not really a sample size, though in that game he made the saves to get them to OT.

Was at the game last night. Check out Climate Pledge Arena if you get the chance. Very cool venue.
Kraken fans are very passionate. Talked to a handful of new fans who may not have known much about hockey but we’re certainly willing to learn.
Lots of kraken jerseys. And they were really into the game the whole way thru until the empty netter.
Seattle is a great sports market. NHL will flourish there.
Special night for my 7 year old who absolutely loves the Flames(my brainwashing worked). Markstrom and Dube tossed him warm up pucks. Then we met up with Rick Ball(former colleague) in the media booth during first intermission and had Lucic come and meet us post game(another colleague is friends with him), sign the jersey and get a picture with my boy.
Such a fun night.

He might be referring to me as he and I were going back and forth on it when he was comparing him to guys like caufield.
But if that’s the case he’s miss representing what I said which was this
“Those guys (Caufield, Perfetti, Newhook, Mercer) have more natural abilities that Pelletier. Caufield has elite goal scoring ability, and did when drafted. There were questions about his size but he's got elite instincts and was considered the best goal scorer in the draft. Newhook also has very high end offensive abilities in terms of his hockey sense, skating and ability to make plays.
I'm not going to break down each guy, but they all are better offensive players than Pelletier, who is more of a good all around player, with a strong level of compete. He's got a lot of strong attributes but isn't elite in any one thing.
I like Pelletier a lot. And I think he's ready to be given a look.
But those guys are in the NHL ahead of him because they are more than likely stronger players. Frankly I think the Avs have done a disservice to Newhook, not by playing him in the NHL, but giving him a little too much responsibility too soon. They considered him to be the replacement for Kadri and I don't think he's ready for that.“
And I stand behind that

Yeah have never understood people turning on the guy.
Clearly a good teammate, had a great season last year ...
I mean I get it saying Vladar should start because they're winning with him, but hoping for bad things for the starter seems off the charts to me.
I hope they both get on a roll, create a solid tandem and give the team options for a playoff series.

I'm super excited and happy for vladar's success. That said, I believe Markstrom is the better goalie when he's on his game. And he seems like a good guy who means well, unlike Smith or Hiller. I really hope Markstrom finds his game, and I'm really impressed to see Sutter having the patience to stick with him as the #1A goalie.
The flames are having a pretty good season as a team, especially if you consider how many of their most important players are struggling as individuals. I remain highly optimistic about this teams potential

In the last 20 games the Flames have had the following rounded xGA-GA results from their goaltenders.
Rounded to
9 at -1 or worse
5 that round to 0
6 at 1 or better
It's interesting ... if you look at above average starts Markstrom has only 23% in that category, Vladar 43%
But if you look at break even or better as a % of starts Markstrom is at 77% and Vladar only 57%.
Vladar has very few break even games, and is either under water or a hero.
Markstrom has more games where he does his job but doesn't star in the win or wear the goat horns.

Do they break those stats down by period or by situation? I feel like Markstrom averages out to be middle of the road because he is worse in the first period and better when the Flames are already down by a couple goals.

They sounded VERY LOUD - even on SN which seems to tend to tone down crowd noise.

Citation needed? I see lots of people ready to jump on Markstrom for any goal against, but actually hoping he sinks the team? Tough to believe unless they’re an oil fan.

Yeah not reading many all is well posts.
