The sudden display of skill seems like a surprise, but then I remember that he is a former mid 1st rounder and is only 27 years old, typically around when a lot of defensemen start to peak.

He could just be starting to realize his 1st round expectations. At least that is my hope.

I will stop if we actually win a game where Markstrom has a save percentage above .900 and we don’t give up three leads.

You’re not wrong Matt. I think the majority know Markstrom hasn’t been good and he if was back to his numbers from last year we would have a better record. It’s just that people want to keep it positive when we win.

Did anyone catch a Cali Panthers Fan sighting on TV? For me, that was the highlight from one of the the Flames previous visits to Florida.

Celebrate the W and TWO points.

It could have been worse.

The only thing that counts is points right now. Stats are for losers?

Mangiapane doesn't do much at all

Mangiapane needs to go back to Backlund's line for a stretch to kick start his confidence.

You just can't deny the impact of the Backlund effect. We've seen too many examples of it over the years and only Tkachuk was been able to step off Backlund's line to show success.

But Eat Bread could be another exception. Once Mangiapane gets scoring touch back, put him with Kadri. They looked so dangerous together at the start of the season.

Crazy that Ruzicka already has as many points as Huberdeau in only half as many games, and much less than half as many minutes played.

Just finished the game, eat it tkachuk, that save was memorable to say the least! It wasn’t the perfect clinic but it was fun to watch! GFG

@Cali
Top-flight post. Way to say it how it is. I watched from my sofa today with my 10-year-old girl. The first game she's been really engaged with, and I had a similar feeling about seeing the game for what it is rather than analyzing it. Way more fun.

He showed a lot of pose on that pass at the blue line, and the way he atopped and read that play before it happened. Add in the quick release at the face-off caught everyone off guard He must have some good offensive instincts and some very good skills. Would be interesting to see how he develops.

Lagavulin 16 year. I dabble in lots of others, but it's always where I end up.

I'm not sure how anyone can complain about Markstrom after that shootout performance

Yeah the first goal was #### but he made up for it this game

without the goal they win in regulation . with the goal they win in shootout

he basically just made life harder on himself to pull out the W . next time he should try giving himself an easier time

Come on now he made some 10 bellers in regulation...was the best goalie on the ice today.

It was a loose game

Cali, thanks for recounting your experience with your son. The few times I was able to take my great nephew, the game became so much more fun. It really is just a game, and I think kids see it with such a clear mind. I don't look at the game as seriously anymore, thanks to my little buddy.

Markstrom was clutch when he needed to be, even salted the wound a little extra on Tkachuk in the shootout. Ruzicka continues to impress as does Zadorov and Rasmus is a stud for that goal- The tone of the American play by play was, Rasmus Anderson is going to take the fifth shot? Boom game over.

Love reading your post game posts after the annual game in Sunrise Cali! Thank you so much for sharing.

I thought we were destined to lose that game after blowing another lead. Markstrom came up huge in the shootout. Great to see hopefully he can build off that.

I thought he was OK just funny to hear him say how bad he wanted to win it and he just didn’t stand out in the one way that he really excels.
