I feel kind of gross now betting for Montreal actually. Not because of the bet, but because it’s Montreal.

8th in the East will probably have 100 points...you just bet that Montreal will get 91 points...I understand feeling gross

This should be $100. Sub $100 bets aren't fun.

The Flames simply could not handle Buffalo's speed or forechecking.

Interesting that turnovers is what sunk the Flames. Stats show they only had 4 giveaways, compared to the game with Vegas I think they had 16.

Looking back, aside from from the Dallas series he hasn't been very good since late February, concerning!

Any team is fast when you give them room.

What I'm super annoyed about is that the Sabres were cheating on their offensive attack all night, yet the Flames couldn't get the puck past that cheating for an odd-man rush the other way. Normally when teams cheat against the Flames they chew them up with chance after chance going the other way. Tonight they just were not focused on the neutral zone or defensive zone. They lacked the effort needed to battle for pucks, and they really struggled transitioning from defense to offense in the neutral zone. It's the main reason why they lost, and it was soooo out of character for them.

It's also why I'm not sweating it, because I know they will be more focused on those details in the next game. Onward and upward.

I think we need a good road trip to get them moving, pretty wild that the Flames essentially don't leave Alberta for a whole month during the season. When has that ever happened before? Winnipeg October 5 to New York November 7th.

Definitely some ugly defending in this one, lack of goaltending isn't helping.

Couldn't stay up for the whole game, but on a couple of the goals (highlights) Mangiapane looked pretty soft defensively (-3 for the night too).

I've been hard on Markstrom, but tough to blame him. A lot of defensive breakdowns.

Agreed, it felt like they had a forward behind the d all night on their breakouts. The forecheck wasn’t good enough to disrupt those breakouts and turn them into turnovers which could be exploited.

Odd loss though, this could have gotten out of hand if Markstrom/Vladar didn’t make some great saves and the posts went in, but at the same time the Flames were very much in it and could have tied it up with a post of their own.

Buffalo’s top guys executed really well. Hinostroza especially looked dangerous most of the game.

Anderson poor pinch timing cost the team at least the 5th goal, and arguably the game at that point as the flames were coming on. His reads on pinches are a major drawback to his game. In a one goal game he needs to play more patiently rather than attempt to jump a 3-on-2 on a Pk. Was a reckless play that we’ve seen too often from #4.

Best I've seen the Sabres play since their b2b ECF runs after the cap era began, not even joking. Fast, skilled, tenacious, gritty. Was as if the teams switched jerseys at the start. Kudos to them. I would not be upset to see them do well this season. Fun team to watch.

Flames stunk, plain as day. Get it out of the way and on to the next.
