I’m glad we can openly talk here about pros and cons of blue jays players in a reasonable way. I think there is a lot of interesting decisions coming up this offseason. I wish we had a better idea what their payroll target is. Arbitration bumps are certainly going to be bigger this year and while maybe the Jays can bank on extra revenue I’m not sure if a public company has different thoughts to investing in the team than a single owner spending their own money.
If they’re not willing to bump payroll then yeah that’s going to be tough to improve the team since the players will be more expensive and not any better. Not sure if we can expect big performance bumps from anyone. Certainly not enough I think to balance the declines of players like Teo or Springer. I hope they can bring Stripling back for something more reasonable. We might have more room for improvement with pitching with a hopefully Berrios or Kikuchi bounce back and perhaps some new people like Ricky or such. Also having Pop and Bass full years (Pearson too as a reliever) should help too. Moreno is the wild card in the hitting. I think that plus the catchers (or Teo) might be their only trade surplus.

I bet they’ll find a spot for Tapia. He was a decently valuable player for them last year…and he’s a left handed hitting OF.

Sure bring him as a 1 million bench player. Not at 5 mill.

Well yeah my ideal world is:
- sign/trade for a LH CF
- move Springer to RF
- trade one of Gurriel/Teo for pitching help

I wonder if the trade of Teoscar is also related to the new outfielder they're acquiring (i.e. made him expendable).

I really hope it’s not for a bullpen arm. The guy is worth more than that. Should be a starter I’m thinking. I knew the guy was on his way out when there were rumours last year, plus the streakiness was not what they were looking to keep around. Shocked it happened this early in the off-season.

I read somewhere a day or two ago there were rumors of a Teo for Chris Flexen trade. If that's the return it's a big meh unless it's unloading money for a bigger move.
Looks like its not the case. Erik Swanson and left-handed pitching prospect Adam Macko it seems.

Seems very underwhelming on the surface. I do trust management as they don’t tend to get robbed so we’ll see what the plan overall is here.

Jays had a serious issue of to many right hand batters in the field.
Not surprised by the move, I would think they will sign a LF outfielder in the off season
Good to see, they have acquired bull pen help in the trade
"Seattle is sending right-handed reliever Erik Swanson and pitching prospect Adam Macko to the Blue Jays in the trade, Divish reports."

Was clear from the FA market for relievers that they were very pricey. This clears off an expensive asset from the books (Teo I think would have been 14+ this year) Now they can look at bringing in a LH CF and move Springer to RF. Gurriel also from what I’ve read is more of a leader on this team so likely more value to having him as the 4th OF.

Gonna miss Teo but he's a 30 year old corner OF with one year of control left and set to make $15 million.
If Swanson is for real they just added another Romano to the back end of the BP and he has 3 years of control left.
They also freed up some money and im sure they have a plan to replace Teo. Hopefully the plan is to add a CF (preferably one that bats left) and then move Springer to RF.
