I believe we’re going to have one more set of players on waivers when/if Kylington comes back. That will be the tricky one.
The Zohorna pickup is a puzzling one. Claim a guy. Then a few days later put him on waivers. Why bother. Probably the only move I found puzzling this offseason.

I don't think it's puzzling at all. There's a difference between watching the guy on tv and seeing him in person. The management obviously liked something while scouting Zohorna, but Sutter who wasn't familiar with him before didn't see the fit, after 2 exhibition games. It's not like Calgary lost anything because of claiming him.

It was a free opportunity to do something proactive when it became clear than Milano and Eakins weren’t staying.

I got the feeling Sutter isn’t 100% happy with the final lineup. Seemed like they feel they are one player short. It will be interesting to see how things play out over the course of the season.
Can they find the final piece up front internally or are there more moves coming?
Will they sort out defensive pairings?
Will Vlader play a bigger role in net.

Tom Wilson would fit the bill, doubt Washington parts with him though.

Has the waiver deadline passed? Did both clear? Or is it noon tomorrow? (Monday)

Deadline to put in a claim is 12pm MT the next day (today)
Used to be 10am MT, but the west coast teams complained about having to wake up early so they moved it back 2 hours.

We are one top 6 RW away from having the best roster we have had in decades.
I know I've been pushing Konecny for months now but having a player like him or equivalent would really makes us contenders.

Yeah, I am still just relaxing with my morning coffee. Who has the wherewithal to do anything productive at this time of the day?

Zohorna back to the pens seems like a given… still have a feeling Vali gets picked up.

Curious if any team has lost 2 players on waivers, especially on the same day.
I do not recall this ever happening.

Who could forget the late 2000s soap opera around Dustin Boyd and Rhett Warrener in the days leading up to opening night, that had people threatening to revoke their fandom if Boyd wasnt on the opening night roster.

It's disappointing that there's only one thread for the waiving of Valimaki as opposed to the legend of Rico Fata.
Damn it...too slow for ol Dunlop.

I think AZ claims Valimaki. They’re already rumored to trade Chychrun away, why not pick up a guy that can play bottom pairing in the NHL why they continue to tank?
EDIT: is it too late?

You also can’t tell how fit he is nor how he may fit in. If a player moves up from line 3 to 2 (let’s call that Dube) and “new guy” could fit on line 3 with potential for line 2 maybe you have something for free. Big guy who skated well and might be close is certainly worth looking at.
Thing is you could see Zahorna struggled to keep up (likely for more than one reason). One is that you have to be in very good condition to play Sutter’s system. Many players have said that. In the end he couldn’t keep pace for whatever reasons and didn't make the cut.
Nothing lost in claiming and waiving him to get a good look.
Many comments here and pretty obvious an additional winger, preferably right is the missing part. I think they are looking at all options for that. I would too.
Maybe we can clear enough cap space for a trade. Camp injuries seem to have hampered that a little with some AHL guys not being able to be assigned.
