I assume that when a player is not playing and there is no mention of an injury that he is working with the PA’s support network to get the help he needs to return to doing what he presumably loves doing - playing hockey.
I don’t feel what frank reported was a huge bombshell or secret or infringed on anyones privacy.

Kylington in the program but per the Flames not substance related. So similar to Alex Texier of the Blue Jackets.

I thought Texier was in the program for substance abuse. Could have sworn it was a pretty open thing.

Yes. And there is nothing within any of the recent reports which contradicts what Treliving said.

Does that program not qualify a player for LTIR? I would think that it does.
So I go back to the point that he isn't on it, not because he doesn't qualify, but simply because they haven't needed to use it to this point.
But if that is the case, then please Mr. Treliving, go get another forward, and put Kylington on LTIR please.

There is no benefit to put him on LTIR right now, which is why they have not. The longer he is not on LTIR, the longer that the Flames will gain a bit more cap space.
What I could see happening down the road, is the flames adding salary to get them to the cap, and then put him on LTIR to be able to use his salary for something else. The difference could be as adding a 4M cap hit player now or 6M cap player at the deadline.

Yes, I understand that.
What I am saying is that they have banked some, so now go spend it, plus more, and put him on LTIR.

I get that you want them to spend it now, but if waiting a bit longer gives you the cap space to outright get a player with out the other team retaining, then you save on an asset trying to make the money work.

Agreed. Comes down to the player you want, and their cost.
But it's already January - if the target is doable now - do it. If the target needs more cap savings, then keep waiting for now.

When you filter players by the cap hit, there is definitely a lot more to like around the 6M mark. I know it is an extreme example, but if waiting goes from Lars Eller to Meier, then I will wait.

Agreed - but there's no point to saving money to add at the cap if....you're not gonna be a buyer. So they need to be pretty certain they're going to make the POs.
If a $4M player gets you there today...and a $6M player can't get you there on March 3....

The Flames have 21 reg season games after Mar 3rd.
Unless they only win a few more in the 18 until March 3, I can’t see them being ultra concerned about playoffs on Mar 3 with 1/4 of the season to go.

Yup
Kylington has no right to privacy. Reporters' customers are us... And I'm really curious what is going on, so I'd be happy if one of these "journalists" managed to get a scoop.

This shows a level of maturity that hovers somewhere above dirt.
anyone with any type of life experience at all would never entertain this type of entitled attitude.
