Can’t even blame the coach, that team is just built awful. Can’t believe they didn’t flip Miller into trying to fix their defence

Yeah, they chose to re-sign Miller instead.

Demko has started the season sporting a 4.48 GAA and a 0.847 SP.

Yuck.

That would fit in with the Nuck's general level of luck, I wonder who gets to play the role of the Avalanche in this scenario? you know the team that builds a cup winning juggernaut on the back of the 'Nucks multi nos 1 draft picks while the Nuck's become the Flyers/Oilers 'just good enough to make the playoffs but never good enough to win'

He could Tkachuk himself to Vancouver in a few years, I guess.

That's his numbers behind that defense when he's not in god mode. They didn't make a single change to what's one of the worst defensive groups in the league. It's like Benning is still running the team at times. I can't believe the organization's plan this season was to rely on their goaltender standing on his head every night but here we are.

Not only is that blueline dull this is a team that siged Curtis Lazar, yes that Curtis Lazar a 3 year 1 million per contract. The D is pretty poor however when Lazar is a middle 6 forward you have even more problems to deal with.

That's true, I just meant that he's a better example of a guy leaving to try to get closer to home, whereas Lindros isn't. Maybe Tavares would be a better example, but that took ten years.

Anyway, Boudreau apparently called them "mentally weak" after last game. He's getting close to calling them "no good". Maybe after 2 or 3 more of these blown leads.

It's an AHL level defense even with Myers back in the lineup. And nothing close to a top pairing guy. Hughes is decent but he can't carry a pair and isn't shutting down anything resembling NHL scoring. Demko will be a mess after this season.

A few good forwards but that's it.

Like I said, they'll be out of playoff contention by mid January.

Just a quick, friendly reminder that this (x2) is the closest Canucks fans have ever had to celebrating a Stanley Cup win since 1970:

Vancouver can win tonight.... on a back to back against our old #13 friend... keeping him winless while the Flames go 3-0 to start is fine by me.

On the 32 thoughts podcast they were talking about Boudreau being on the hot seat after 2 games. If you are going to put a guy on the hotseat after 2 games... you probably shouldn't have kept him to start the season.

Crazy.... and they were leading in all three games... let's see how they come out tonight, if they fight for their coach or not.

Recap:

Vancouver 3 Edmonton 0 (lost 5-3)
Vancouver 2 Philadelphia 0 (lost 3-2)
Vancouver 4 Washington 2 (lost 6-4)

and no loser points.

Tonight's prediction:

Vancouver 4 Columbus 0 (win 5-2)

I said it in another thread but I'm astonished by all the media and fans jumping off bridges after the first week of the regular season. There's little you can take out of October NHL results in regards to where teams end up after 82 games.

The funny part is that at 5 on 5, the scores are Vancouver 3-1, Vancouver 2-1, Tied 4-4. If they weren't awful on special teams there wouldn't even be a story here.
