I think Gaudreau has a crappy agent. Overplayed his hand with Calgary thinking he’d go back to NJ/Philly, both of those teams were either out or negotiating him down. Columbus gets wind of NJ’s best offer and lowers their own.

JG left with a below market value contract in a second tier City and not even all that close to his family. Just not well planned by JG and his rep at all.

His biggest mistake was probably announcing that he was taking Calgary off the table. Seravelli was on 960 earlier saying that talks with NJ had hit a snag of some type, and I wonder if NJ knew they were the only player in town and used it as leverage to not budge. That may have made Johnny angry, and now he was stuck without an option.

Had he and his agent said Calgary is still in play, he could have leveraged it properly.

Woof. Really gotta point fingers at the agent here imo.

He probably tried, and they justifiably told him to #### off back to Ohio.

He never struck me as particularly smart. I assume he think he's meeting back up with Tkachuk when he signs with the Columbus Blues next season.

Was sad yesterday and today... until now.

Weird.... I didn't realize colombus is near Philly.

He wanted to be on the EST side of the US. I now am pretty certain cgy wasn't really a possibility.

I hope that the flames realize that they cannot go into the season with tkachuk on his expiring deal. If the team is mediocre but in a playoff spot, they're stuck holding onto him thru the deadline.

I also hope that the flames are being hasty with the tkachuk deal. If a deal isn't there, hope to dangle him now, while the team's that are shopping haven't all made their big offseason swings already.

The way this played out, I doubt he ever gave the Flames a formal counter. This summer or last.

At this rate Johhny's agent would be lucky to sign Shoresy

Did someone forget to tell JG that Jack Hughes is the top center for the New Jersey Devils because how do you choose Columbus over NJ? Unless NJ was never involved?

Obviously. Probably leaked by his Johnny's agent in desperation to try and drive up the price.

#### around and find out. Posters who have a vested interest in supporting the Flames at all costs won’t like it, but it is what it is. By the way, forgot to mention the Brodie situation in the post.
