Niederreiter is my top pick of who is left. I think he would fit in decently on the Flames under Sutter.


Jarnkrok I am fine with if he is cheap - it may have been a case of him being unlucky, or it may have been trying to play in a system that just doesn't work for him. If is the latter, then he should probably find a different team I guess.


Stastny is a name nobody brought up. I wouldn't hate that (though I doubt it happens). He is old to be sure, but strong faceoffs from what I remember, great long the boards, defensively strong, and a decent puck distributor. 4th line guy now with ability to move up in case of injuries, but also someone you send over the boards for key draws - a less tough version of Yelle.


Just personally hoping to avoid Kadri, as I think he is going to be expensive, and a contract that I see never living up to the potential. Plus, I really dislike him. LOL


I am 100% fine with no more moves to be made, and just re-signing the players that are RFAs, and promoting from within.

I'd be okay with taking a flyer on Statsny though and would bring back Jarnkrok.

I'd imagine Strome has several offers on the table and is probably weighing his options ATM

If the Flames have contacted him they are very likely not the only ones. He might not pick them.

The forward group was very close to a one-line team last year, and if you take Gaudreau out of it and promote someone, it makes the 2nd and 3rd line just awful.

Monahan may or may not play, and if he does, it may be short term or hampered by current (or new) injury. He's never been fast, and the league is fast now. Flames would be very lucky indeed if he's capable of anchoring a 3rd line this year.

Unless guys like Dube take a major step in what they bring every game... boy, this looks rough to me. Toffoli should be better than last year, but he's not a kid either. We'll see.

Guess that’s why you play the games. But they need to replace Johnny’s offense somehow. No one currently on the roster is going to do it.
