Division titles in 2 of 4 years, but also 2 titles in the last 2 full seasons.

I think we underestimate how wonky the shortened seasons really were for the players. Tkachuk's play last season compared to this season is staggering.

Tkachuk is the type of player that feeds off of the atmosphere of the game. I think not having fans has a big impact on a guy like him. He loves the glory and he loves the hate.

Honestly, you can attribute it to some of that. But the biggest thing is getting a coach in here that was willing to push buttons and the GM committing to making some personnel changes that would allow the best players to play to their strengths. Everything was far too stagnant for too long. It goes to show that change doesn't always need to be a full fledged melt down of the roster.

Agree for sure but enjoy the moment and the possibilities that lie right in front of us.

Plenty of time for the other stuff later.

Darryl's entire presser today was great...

His story about playing against Lafleur is pretty funny too...

Without a doubt it helps having a coach that knows what tools he needs in the toolbox. Every GM wants to try and get the shiny new toy that's available, but there is a real benefit to a GM in having a coach that can look at what's out there and say "these guys are who I need to fill these roles".

here's the game Sutter is referring to- factually correct 4 assists for Sutter and 3 PP goals for Lafleur

Chicago Black Hawks at Montreal Canadiens Box Score — October 9, 1982 | Hockey-Reference.com

So while he was sitting back at the ranch, watching games (ostensively whilst on Anaheim's payroll) he was following and cheering on the Flames.

On Anaheim's payroll.

Assisted the one and only Rich Preston for 2 goals.

Well the dishing of credit and praise to mediocre opponents does seem right out of his playbook.
