Not sure my heart could take that. A few blowouts and starting pitchers getting more than 1 out please.

I remember fervently watching the early 90s Jays. I don’t think it’s hyperbole to say I believe this team is actually better than those teams. I know there’s a luck element to sports, but this team is easily talented enough to win the World Series.
This is going to be fun!

Wow that was an incredible game. I had RA Dickey-JP Arencibia vibes at the beginning of that game. But man those bats are just too powerful to contain. Gurriels gonna have a big year. Go Jays!!!

Hopefully with the excitement of this team and nobody seeing live baseball for so long during Covid we can get back to the two seasons after that playoff run in 2015 with 35k+ every game.

What a game. Messy and sloppy and felt like a playoff game. Incredibly fun!

Biggest MLB opening day comeback win of the past 72 years
For the Jays, that was only their 5th comeback win at home of ALL TIME of 7+ runs

Really must've felt special on the tv because the game itself in person seemed to take the crowd out of it because of the bad start. This was probably my 4th home opener and the crowd was surprisingly tame. It has traditionally been a drunkfest. Having said that, much of the crowd was chatty and not paying attention until the tying homerun, which really woke the place up.
Regarding some of the changes in person:
- Field looks legitimately better from a padding perspective. It looks like real grass and you can tell it's thicker grade. Should help with the players who complain about it
- New scoreboard definitely has better viewing angles and better resolution, though the side additions seem to be a bit off. Because they're not showing the game on the screen, and moreso player stats and replays doesn't really add much to the in game experience as perhaps management wants it to.
- Lights. I read they went from halogen to LED lights and that's the first thing I noticed. Before it seemed to be right in your eyes the second you looked up. I can only imagine the players and how maddeningly blinding it was. Now there's light but it doesn't blind you in the crowd. I don't know why but it seems like a huge upgrade
- I was in the 100 level seating in the OF, but when I looked at the 500 levels it looked like some of the backing concrete was painted a white colour, which I've been saying should have been done a long time ago to give the concrete a look of newer age concrete and not 1980's concrete. I don't know if what I seen was real but it did and it looked good. Now I'm really curious to see what they do with some other changes because the money they've spent seems to be well done.

Anyone know what happened with Biggio? Espinal came in for him after only 1 at bat, injury? Or was Montoyo miffed after the botched double play? Anyways I feel way more comfortable with Espinal fielding than Cavan.

Rangers brought in a lefty pitcher iirc.

Blue Jays in 30 is the best way to watch the game when you miss it.
