Also, if you get an injury in the top 9, Monahan can move up, and Jarnkrok can play either wing, and you slot Carpenter into the 4th line

They really have a lot of options and flexibility with this lineup
There is no scenario where Monahan playing any sort of significant role would be a good thing for this team. I know nothing about Carpenter at all and I can at least tell you that he will make this team better than Monahan can no matter where he is deployed.

Best outcome. Monahan can move to the press box.

i think you guys are letting your biases get the better of you...it would be a complete shock if Mony isn't playing in the playoffs.

I really liked this guy when he was with Vegas. He should be a useful depth option.

6 feet, 200 lbs

That's a double meat burger right there

Monahan is under performing, and not playing up to the tail end of his contract. But in no world is he an addition by subtraction.

The Flames are 6'2 on average according to TheScore. They are 202 lbs on average according to EliteProspects.

They got smaller with this trade.

Probably came off the Sutter wish list, Carpenter is very much in the Sutter mold.

That’s not how it works. They may have gotten smaller, but only if he is replacing someone bigger. Otherwise, they got bigger, or stayed the same.

Monahan needs to do nothing but skating drills over the summer if he wants to salvage his career.

He will fit nicely on the 4th line. Doesn't have the offensive talent that Ruzika has, but he's an experienced vet and can play a decent 200ft game.

It isn't just about being big. It is about having that high compete.

Coleman and Mangiapane are really difficult to play against not because they are big, but because they are physical and play hard.
