There is just something satisfying about knowing that the opposing team will need to empty the ice machine for the plane ride home.

Interesting to hear Tkachuk talk about how Calgary is a perfect fit for him. He's an RFA so not worried about losing him this summer, but I like hearing those comments when you think about signing him long term.

Yeah, the way he shrugs off the protocol - he’s definitely old school as far as injuries go.

Interesting aside about Tkachuk and the rest of the team about penalties - talking about stuff after the whistle. That’s what the rumours were as far as team complaints with Chucky last year. And under Sutter I can’t recall the last after stoppage penalty on Tkachuk.

Rocket Mangiopane has 27 goals and counting. He's on pace to score more goals this season than he had in total, prior to this season, in several years of being an NHL player.

He never scored close to this many in the AHL. This is so bizarre it would be like Yamamoto jumping out with a superman cloak and suddenly piling in 40 goal season.
Mangi had 9 goals in 15 AHL games his last partial season before earning the call-up. That's a 49 goal pace. He had 21 goals in 39 games the season before. That's a 44 goal pace.

Quote:
I mean 50 games in, and Mangy has exceeded anything he's done since junior, and really is on pace for his highest ever totals, any league, and level of hockey.
Uh...?

2014-15 Barrie Colts: 68 games, 43 goals + 61 assists for 104 points
2015-16 Barrie Colts: 59 games, 51 goals + 55 assists for 106 points

It’s true about jerseys. Calgary may not have loud fans but they spend the dough for good gear. I’ve seen other teams trying to get one color in the stands actually hand out the t shirts.

You are so right man. Oilers are so much better than the flames. It's not even close. Teams play the oilers hard, and just don't show up against the flames. That's the only explanation!

The Flames were 10-1 in their 11 games before the Vancouver loss. Guess who the "1" was against?
St. Louis

Oilers fans have to make #### up to make themselves feel better about the Flames playing well.

Gonna put this out there. For months basically the Flames have been the late night marquee Saturday Night game. I don't think the Oilers have had a HNIC 8pm slot all of 2022. I say this because the schedule is laid out a year in advance. Calgary missed playoffs last couple of years. The Oilers have McDrai/Nurse. yet this is what the schedule and Snet and CBC got. Its pretty strange when you combine it with the Flames out of nowhere improvement this seaosn. Sometimes I wonder how much of this is scripted. There isn't even a ratings argument can be made for the Flames. The Oilers are a better draw at gate and in ratings. So why Always Calgary in the prime Saturday late slot?
Quote:
Obviously its really odd that the Flames are disproportionately being the HNIC late game. It really is, this isn't me distorting. The Oilers have the two best players, arguably, in hockey, and we have a schedule that have them playing mostly Sat afternoon road games, if at all on a Saturday. The Schedue seems very odd in this, because again the Flames were not considered, at all, a significant club when this schedule was drawn up, and when these HNIC slots were devised.

It would be basically like an NBA carrier deciding to look off Michael Jordan games in his heyday and play some low profile games instead.

I would assert that if an eastern club had McDrai they would be getting a #### load of national HNIC broadcasts, and not weak slot morning/afternoon games.
Quote:
Its just odd. Flames being in first place seems to legitimize the choice of games, in some way, or at least that argument could be made in present sense. But the games were scheduled/slotted for broadcast while the Flames were a non playoff club in the Canadian division. From before the start of the season some kind of Flames media push was going on. Even when we beat them in first game somehow we were the underdogs beating the very good flames. From guys like Friedman on down a Flames anointment had already occurred. Will make it juicier when the Flames next falter.

The one statement that could be made is that the Oil playing so many Saturday Afternoon games is league driven, and to market the game to kids in the US more, who won't be staying up for the evening timeslot. Its possible the league is kind of forcing that on the Oilers. McD being the NHL's most marketable player.

Yup. Absolutely delusional. It has to be the same idiots on the Oilers forum that keep conjuring the same excuses and absolute drivel about the Oilers supposed superiority. The Flames could win the cup this year and those same fans and posters would still spew absolute nonsense and excuses even after the fact. The comments are insufferable at times, it’s a whole other level of salt.

That and the one guy's fixation with Mangiapane are just the strangest places to channel the radiating butthurt from their inferiority complexes.

Alleging at a TV slotting conspiracy without alleging a TV slotting conspiracy, and delving into Mangiapane's history to try to argue that his scoring pace is impossible. What in the actual f....

They really have nothing to do with their time up there except stew over the Flames.
