At this point in the playoff race, I would rather lose 7-1 to Vancouver than 2-1 to Vegas.

Last nights game was one of those times.

I was able to watch up to the 3-0 goal.

Pettersson PPG...after obvious hold...perfect shot.
Miller PPG...after stick clips Motte...perfect shot
Horvat ESG...sloppy, forced shot from the Flames' point...partial Breakaway after 2 on 1 pass is defended...rebound to Flames' D...Horrific giveaway on clearence...absolutely no backcheck effort from Lucic or other forwards

Now, one might argue that there were missed calls prior, but, on none of those three goals, was egregious refereeing the cause. The failure to take advantage of full puck control when Demko had lost his stick earlier (Shooting gloveside on a stickless goalie? Really?) seemed the actual turning point in deflating your guys. The effort on the Horvat goal showed a deflated team.

So, streak ends, tying prior record streak, and the schedule marches on...

Yeah, even after the game the flames still have a 10 point lead on the Canucks. At the day the Canucks win puts a little pressure on the Oilers as it puts the Canucks 3 points back and into that cluster of teams fighting for that last WC spot.

Well there was the wake up call the Flames needed. Now it is time for them to respond.

Honestly, flames hadn’t played a road game in a near month, had edge in 5v5 play after the 1st and had some brain farts through the 2nd that pushed the game out of reach. That said if what happened to Gaudreau happened to McDavid we’d be hearing about it for weeks, major sports networks report about how McDavid all the time about how even though he’s the runaway leader in drawing penalties he deserves to draw even more. It’s time Gaudreau gains a little more respect from the refs, he’s a former lady byng, he’s a star in the game and should be treated as such. Embarrassing display to see two cut high sticks that should have both been doubles turn into an ejection and a penalty to the team with the injured players, the fact that they even came together and discussed on the Gaudreau play and got it even more wrong is laughable.

I agree reffing wasn’t why we lost last night, the penalties that were scored on were legitimate infractions, but a 34 to 2 PIMs discrepancy is laughable.

Makes us sound like Oilers regardless.

Not worth doing.

Losers whine.

The reffing was horrific. But the Flames also weren’t good. Not even close to good enough.

Good adversity to face at this point in the season.
Sutter is probably grinning behind the scenes knowing his team was humbled and it'll benefit them moving forward.

I thought most of the penalties called on the flames were fine. My problem with the officiating was that there were plenty of similarly obvious infractions from Vancouver that weren't called.
That being said, I didn't think we deserved to win based on the effort.

The difference between Oilers fans and Flames fans when it comes to complaining about the officiating is Oilers fans will whine regardless of how many powerplays they get.

Lose by a goal and if the other team gets one more powerplay even if they don't score on any of them then they say it's the ref's fault.

Dube takes a high stick in the face, is bleeding, gets a penalty

We aren't Oiler fans...if that happened to McDavid Sportsnet would be having a summit on reffing.

In the Dube penalties defense he also high-sticked the Canucks player. But the point isn't that Dube shouldn't have been penalized, the point is that the Canucks player should have gotten a double minor as well.

This loss is not a big deal at all in the grand scheme. Really interested to see the response though, two games against the Wild right after there worst game of the season.

Now we will see what this group is made of. Go Flames Go!!

Ughhh....what a night.

Sorry guys that was my fault. I was at the game, and my record for live Flames games in Vancouver is about 1-20. I also had rinkside seats ($150 each last minute ticketsmaster).....probably made the loss worse. I was seated close to Vlader, and the look on his face every time a goal went in was brutal.

The Flames actually scored the only goal immediately after I had left the building, with under 5 minutes left, to avoid the rush for taxis....and the obnoxious fans after a 7-0 loss.

What a brutal night...

On the bright side.. Sutter and the Flames don't have to answer repetitive questions from media about the streak. You watch the Sutter pressers and he has no interest in those questions, but they kept coming. Kinda cringe worthy.

I live about a 10 minute drive from the stadium, and nowhere near a skytrain. Hastings Sunrise area. We actually ended up getting a Lyft.
