Well they're going over to the other side of the Williams design. The floor is just a giant wing now.

Quite the change. Amazing the difference between this and the Ferrari.

Reminds me of the Brabham BT46

A bit yeah, with the way the engine cover kind of just drapes down to the floor? Kind of looks like a blob to me more than a structure. It's an interesting turn around from the 1st test car.

Too bad the fan isn't allowed.

It’s gonna be nice to go back to Merc 1-2’s every weekend, winning by over a minute and lapping the entire field.

I knew something was missing from F1 the last season or two.

It's a unique design, that doesn't mean it is the best one. Last clip I saw showed they still have a lot of porpoising issues.

Mazepin "shocked" at his release and has set up a foundation that will...

Mazepin says he been done dirty and deserves better. Won't someone think of the poor oligarchs sons who were given one of 20 jobs in the top motor sport in the world because of who their father is?!

What a bitch.
F1 is the ultimate rich kid sport. It’s virtually impossible to compete in it no matter how good you are without a benefactor - one video I watched recently has the cost of even getting on the F1 radar at somewhere around $5M.

Hate Mazepin because he’s not good, not because he bought his seat. In one form or another, everyone on the grid has done this.

Can someone remind me if Bahrain is the track that has the sprinklers that they can wet the track with?

I'd be interested to see if spray is any different with the new cars.

Gaslys porpoising look legitimately dangerous today. Even if he did set the quickest lap time. Can't imagine 50+ laps of that is good for a drivers longevity.

Hamilton didn't come from wealth. Neither did Albon. I'm sure their are others.

The only reason Mazepin had a seat was his dad's money. Lance Stroll, the next argument, actually won F3 the season Nikita paced 20th.

F1 isn't political, it's capitalist. Mazepin lost to that, not the politics. If they cared one bit about politics they wouldn't race in all the countries they do. It's a stupid club he created, for stupid reasons.

You don't get anywhere in motorsports without money. You don't even get started.

Maybe those guys didn't have F1 rides bought for them but there was a lot of money spent on the way up.

Even if you aren't bringing your own money with you, most drivers are bringing someone's (sponsors) money with them. There will be fewer and fewer grass roots, blood sweat and tears types as time goes on.

Hamilton is a GOAT level driver. Unless you’re that good (and even then, it’s really hard) this is a playground for rich boys.

Schumacher was a pay driver. Nikki Lauda was a pay driver. Mick Schumacher, Jacques Villeneuve, Nico Rosberg etc have famous fathers. They’re also talented, but if their last names were Fassbender, Clouseau and Maier, from upper-middle class households, and not the sons of F1 drivers (champions or otherwise) you wouldn’t know who they were.

Lancelot’s dad bought him an F1 team and then bought Aston Martin.

Sometimes pay drivers work. Sometimes they don’t.

Mazepin didn’t, and not a tear has been shed, because Mazepin is awful on many levels.

You said "impossible". I was pointing out it wasn't, that's all. I know that most drivers come from a lot of money.

But I think their is also a difference between a driver who has earned their spot through winning lower series and gets paid to drive, and those who are just average, then bring money(through sponsors) to the team to drive for them, like Maldonado and Mazepin.

my bad - virtually impossible.

But that’s not just limited to F1 - that’s car racing in general. Car racing and karting make hockey look like a sport for the poors.

I feel like Alfa Romeo will be the backmarker team this year. Doesn't feel like they've got a very reliable car.

Then I think sadly it'll be Williams. Not sure they have a driver to push for points and I like Albon and Latifi.

I think the biggest jump this year is gonna be Haas. Like right back into the midfield. Somethings clicking for them during testing and I like it.
