Guess what they would have found out if that happened? Not only was it all true, it was worse, and they maybe call the cops.

I find this “it was text messages and verbal harassment” story a little far fetched, give there were two or three coaches and two veteran players that knew what happened.
Knowing how McDonough is, if Chevy had said that in that meeting with his ranking, he'd be the one going out the door on that day.

At least he would’ve done the right thing, instead of taking the “it’s not my job/my place to say” stance that most definitely enabled Aldrich to move on and assault a child.

Even if he wouldn't have been fired the message from McDonough would have been "I'll take care of this situation, you can go about your normal duties now".

Wait... it seems like that's how it went down anyway.

I really doubt McDonough would have changed a thing if somebody would have said "Hey, this is serious we need to do something.". They were in the heat of the playoffs, about to play in the finals and the coach had already said "We can't have this distraction". The bug was already in McDonough's ear to make this go away. No excuses for what they did, but that's what they did.

I doubt it would have changed anything. McDonough was "taking care of it". That's all anyone needed to know after that meeting as far as McDonough was concerned. He was going to preserve the organization's focus on winning the cup that year.

I wasn’t really responding to you. More I hope generally we don’t get bogged down and lose momentum because of a focus on Chevy.

Meh, he could totally word it so it’s a suggestion, not a demand or an accusation. He acts like he was there to serve coffee.

I don’t think anyone is saying “for sure Chevy could have changed it”. They’re saying he didn’t try and is now just shrugging.

It's this. His public comments are really off putting and come across as self serving.

Doesn't matter if it could have changed anything. Fact is that he didn't try.

McDonough saying he would take care of it didn't save Bowman and Q, who both answered to him as well.

If only texts and verbal harassment were mentioned, followed by Aldrich being let go that summer, it's understandable he wouldn't go to his superiors who are handling it and check in to ensure more is being done.
From his perspective, it would appear to be dealt with and not as serious in nature as what we know now.

There is literally nothing for him to try and do in that scenario.

If he knew there was a sexual assault, different situation and everyone in that room should have done more.
We really need to know what was said in that meeting and when further information came to light before issuing full judgment.

Immediate suspension pending investigation is warranted for that. Not “let go later in the summer”.
