Ahhh yes, reminds me of a game one of years past.

When Gaudreau breaking in got hacked and the puck went the other way to McDavid who was challenged by a flame without foul but was awarded a penalty shot, essentially for being defended.

How is it this game is so poorly and inconsistently called so consistently?

My investment today is dwarfed by how much I cared in the past. I'm desensitized to the BS that following this team has churned out.

Maybe one day that'll change. But not holding my breath.

I love these guys and my roots around this team go deep, but it is just hard to be too invested in a league that allows Edmonton to pick up 4 firsts in 6 years and doesn't do anything about it until well after the fact, and sits on its hands while Gaudreau's wrists get chopped on a nightly basis and does nothing about it.

Great team, but frankly a joke of a league.

Yep that is the one I was talking about...no doubt it happens next Saturday. Flames are already down a man on a questionable suspension. Pre game story will be about the dirty Tanev who dares to defend McDavid and make him trip himself.

Zero mention of Keith chopping Gaudreau in a preseason game and actually injuring him

It's incredible that Edmonton gave up assets to get the last and worst years of the anti-vax biohacker's career. You really have to be the most incompetently ru-.. oh wait.

Kucherov suspended 1 playoff game for similar hit.

Been a consistent suspension. League made the right call. Was a very dangerous hit.

As long as it's consistent.

Cause that's how you actually deter those kinds of hits.

If you let it go 50% of the time then you're just ####ing over certain clubs and not discouraging it either because there will always be a chance you don't get flagged for it.

Maybe they can up their GAF level regarding wrists while they're at it. Hand/wrist mobility is pretty good to have after one's playing career.

you honestly think that is the same! he came from about 30 feet away and jumped...and it was his 4th suspension

Coleman rubbed him out and hasn't even been fined in the past let alone suspended. Just happened to do the worst thing in his career in his 2nd game in Calgary after playing 300+ in Tampa/NJ without so much as a fine.

Doesn't matter where he came from. He didn't get suspended for charging, he got suspended for boarding a player in a vulnerable spot. I gave you 2 examples.

Honestly if this was a Flame who got hit like that would you be defending opposing player? If your answer is no then you know you are just being a Homer and defending the Flames at all costs.

If Gaudreau got hit like that I would want a suspension. Don't see why I would defend Coleman because he is on my favorite team. It's 1 game not the end of the world.

You completely ignore the first example he gave as well?

And what he did can't be considered as rubbing him out, Coleman loaded and drove Harkins head into the boards.

He bumped him...it wasn't a hard hit at all its not even close to the same as either. Both examples the guy took multiple strides to hit the opponent.

How unlucky for us...guy plays 300+ without so much as a fine but is suspended 2 games 2 games into his Flames career

Do you agree that the NHL should crack down on unnecessary hits to vulnerable players and their heads where chance of significant injury may occur?

And do you agree the best way to punish these types of hits, which should have no place in the game, is by suspension?

Coleman leaned. Both those examples were massive charges as well. They weren't really that close. But anyway, onto the next random 1 gamer. You'll go crazy if you follow these things to closely.

I don't think this hit should be a suspension obviously...its a contact sport, players are going to get hurt. #### happens

I think this is a 2 min penalty as it was called by the referee standing right there

Charging into a hit like that is a totally different level

No injury, no history, 2 games, get ####ed

I am fine with this if we see this consistently as the benchmark going forward. I highly doubt it though...and as such it will be very frustrating to watch other players take similar hits without suspension...

I think the problem was that Coleman kind of followed through instead of just getting in the way or pinning Haskins. It was pretty dangerous and it could have been injurious.

Without a doubt, the Flames are going to get screwed over by the officials in their season opener. I’ll eat a pube if the Flames end up with more powerplays than the Oilers in that game!!

I have seen worse hits on Gaudreau not even draw a penalty. It's pretty frustrating to be a fan of this league as it's run by nincompoops. We often like to say bad teams require a complete house cleaning of management to move forward in a positive direction and this also applies to the dinosaurs running the NHL. I'm afraid nothing will ever change until the majority of them retire or die of old age. I would be totally fine with this suspension if all teams and players were subject to the same discipline but we all know that's not the case.
