But once Seattle picks him, there is no incentive in Gio doing this.
And at the deadline, an acquiring teams needs little cap room top take on Gio with cap retained. Plus teams never have enough defenceman come playoff time, as Gio would simply push down some of them.
If Gio wants to screw them, you pick non-contenders who have no desire for a rental. At the end of the day, most players want a chance at the playoffs. Gio would want this to help establish his value for his next contract.
