I agree it was a tough period. I don’t know that he was poor, he just got in trouble a few times and was beaten physically. It doesn’t happen often. I bet he tightens it up a lot. There’s gonna be some D juggling now too.

Johnny has had a rough season, and every one of us has probably said the words "blow it up" at least once over the last few months. But if you want to score any goals at all next year, I think Johnny is a guy that you absolutely need to keep. When he's on, he's still one of the most exciting and dynamic players in the game. Guys with that kind of skill don't come around very often.
If the Flames are gonna blow things up and trade away a core piece, I think it's more likely that it'll be someone like Monahan or Gio.

No one wants to trade Johnny because he isn't a fantastic player. They want to trade him because it doesn't look like we'll get it done with this core, and they're skeptical he'll re-sign here.
Better to get some good assets and be a little worse next season, than watch him walk for nothing after next year.
