Darryl can’t be pleased with what he saw. Hopefully we see a much better effort moving forward. Same old with this team though...always looking for it to be easy. Their compete level is a solid 1/10.

Ritchie has no ability to handle the puck. He can lay the body and he can fight. There is not much else in his tool kit. Brad has not really developed much depth for this team and Leivo is not a great option but he has produced at the NHL level. Ritchie had one year in Dallas, where I can only assume a lot of pucks bounced off his skates, and other than that he is a modern day Chris Dingman.

A few Flames are having a great game, but most are simply not moving their legs like they want to win.

Looking at the goal again, Spezza released the puck a few feet inside the faceoff dot so it might have been a little early for that position transition, but he read that Spezza was skating into the corner so it's a split second decision.

Maybe...but this is nothing new for him either.

It might hyperbole but seemingly thats where he gets beat 50% of the time.

I played the position for years and long before the technical stuff that is coached now. Also long before the equipment became bigger than the person wearing it as well. It was always better to stay on your feet as long as possible though...that hasnt changed IMO. How long has changed, but not as long as you can.

DR is so often down on his knees even when the puck is back on the blue at times. Its his biggest weakness by a mile.

Saying our players are playing poorly when they are....during the game no less...is now being "bitter"?

Are you new here?

The top players need to be top players. Johnny Hockey isn't playing like a top player. Period.

Lol at the armchair goaltenders that think every shot should be stopped

If Monahan roofs one, it’s an awesome shot

Spezza? Rittich’s fault

How has Leivo produced at the NHL level. Both are not great options but I feel the way Leivo has been playing he is probably Sutters top choice to take out if the lineup...and he should be. Ritchie is at least noticeable when he is on the ice.

Always way more "goalie should have had that" than "nice shot" around here.

The SN crew sounds like they're overjoyed and relieved that the Leafs scored first. Canada's team is back everyone, and they've got the swagger again!

Hot Take: This team now has a coach who can slightly mask their deficiencies. This team is still filled with plugs and deadbeats.

Shot attempts 25-12 Leafs.

Need more Ozone time this period, and the rest of the game.

Tkachuk-Lindholm-Bennett to open the second period.

Guess Dube has been demoted.

I want Monty and JG to score like old times. When I see games like this though, I don't have a lot of reason to believe that anything close to that will happen.

What to do? If the money worked, would you swap them out to make room for Hall and Eichel who are also having issues?

Hopefully, from the rest of this game an onward, Monty and JG give us all reason to forget that it ever came up.

Go Flames Go!!!
