Looks to me like Barrie is very similar to Brodie D wise but much better on the offensive end.

Yeah, Barrie would be fine depending on the dollar amount. He is a Wideman. Just don't suckered any refs and you'll be just fine Tyson.

I don't see him taking a spot away from Tkachuk, Gaudreau, or Dube on the left side and I would much rather see third line center minutes go to Bennett.
Just not a fit here right now. Money is better spent elsewhere.

Second line C.
Monahan
Galchenyuk
Backlund
Put Sam on wing.

I think Bennett is locked at center for 20/21. Management wants this, Wards given them this and it worked. I think Bennett was happiest when Ward was announced the full time coach.
I dont expect the Flames to do much at center this offseason. Except letting Janko walk. Edit: maybe move Ryan too.

Haven't we learned that Bennett is much more effective at center?
Also, Galchenyuk isn't going to take ice time from Backlund. Backlund is more dependable in all three zones. Galchenyuk has been in every coach's doghouse that he has played for. There isn't upside there anymore, he is what he is.

No. 10 games don't make something true. Bennett is not a smart player, he has tenacity coming out of his ears, but it pushed all the brains out at the same time.

You have to try Sam at center this season, otherwise you might as well trade him while the going's good.
Backlund is also a much better player than Galchenyuk. Why in the world would you gift Galchenyuk the 2nd line spot. He was regularly a 4th liner for both Pittsburgh and Minnesota.

Look I too can provide terrible opinions as fact.
|
Well, if we want to use the word fact, Brodie plays on the pair (and has consistently for some time), Barrie doesn't

Not saying 10 games is the be all end all.
It's been clear since day 1 that Bennett should be a centerman. Coach's have continually pushed him to the wing and his game isn't suited for it.
He much more valuable back tracking in the middle of the ice and driving the play from between the dots. He is more involved at both ends of the ice. It finally sounds like they are going to give him an extended place in the line up there this season with some decent wingers. Let's not throw that out the window for Galchenyuk- the guy bounces around from doghouse to doghouse.
Bennett isn't ever going to be a 1st line center, but I think he will see how effective he can be as a 2b/3a this season. He has the ability to be a Kadri lite.

How does Barrie's shot compared to Wideman?
The good thing about good shots is that they tend to stay even with age. Although that didn't help Babchuk, Kotalik, or Wideman much.

I don't think he's especially known for a hard slapper. But he is a RHS, which helps on that side on the PP, like with Wideman.

Barrie is good at getting pucks to the net, including to be tipped, as opposed to a guy with a big clapper.

Yeah he’s good at finding lanes with quick wristers, or making hard down low passes. Skilled with the puck no doubt, but doesn’t have a boomer.

I agree. I wouldn’t give up Monny for Loni Anderson in her prime.

We do need a better funneler of pucks to the net. Although Raz hasn't really had a chance yet. But with Hammer and Brodie gone there should be some space on both power play untis for a barrie and raz.

Barrie to Vancouver makes so much sense if they can't get OEL. I imagine he is even willing to take a hometown discount.
