I don't know if this makes me happy or if it pisses me off. I don't know how to feel!
A little bit of both I guess.
Stupid Flames.

The 4th goal was 100% in...just saw a better replay, like 6 inches over the line in

Happy that they were actually able to compete with a team that looks to be a legitimate threat in the West.
Frustrated that they had said team on the ropes and gave away two games (4 and 6) that shortened the series and ruined their chance of going to the next round.

Pretty much...I always thought they were good but Flames still blew it

Reffing both ways in this game has been terrible.
Momentum turned on a bad call in second, multiple weak make up calls since. Kills the game flow.

As the series wore on, Dallas definitely looked more like the team that was second best in the conference before the wheels fell off later in the season. Overall I think they were the better, more consistent team but Calgary played well and maybe deserved a little better fate than (literally) flaming out in 6.
I would expect Colorado to push back but their goaltending could be the difference. Khudobin hasn’t been amazing for Dallas but he hasn’t had to be either.

That's where a playoff seasoned coach might pay off.
Managing the line deployment at key moments, having a feel of which players to go to to close out tight games in the dying minutes, also communicating with players on the bench and pushing the right buttons (eg. what Torts did with Dubois which helped them sink the Leafs).
Might be the difference that makes the difference (between a rd 1 exit and going a few rounds), when the playoff outcomes so often come down to managing the key moments and momentum swings.

Gee, maybe the Flames team and players aren't the biggest bums in the world, just maybe Dallas is a top seed for a reason. Colorado is Mac and Makar and the rest hope to hold the line. Big, fast and structured is what Dallas is, what St. Louis was last year and just about every team since the 2004 lockout.

A set of forwards that hadn't been out for 3 full minutes might have helped

Their top line were pretty big bums. That was a huge problem when you’re playing a top team.

I Dallas continues playing like this and pushes through the Avs, and Vegas knock the Canucks out, it will set up a real battle in the conference finals. Two big, strong teams. One with amazing offence and one with a very tough team defense.

You know who else didn't score in the round robin and first round of the playoffs, Dallas first line. At least Gaudreau, Monahan got some pp goals, Benn/Sequin got nothing.

I imagine Hamonic would've done far worse than Andersson in that second pairing slot. Which is where he would've been playing if he hadn't opted out.
For being a coveted stay at home guy by reputation, he didn't seem to particularly adept at a lot of things defensively.

Avs keep missing the net.
Almost never goes in when you shoot wide

I don't disagree with this, but perhaps the one thing that Hamoonic still does very well is clearing the front of the net. Ignoring everything else, I think this is something that he could have done better for the Flames than Forbort.

Benn scored on us game 1. He had 2 goals and 3 assists over the series I think?
