Jays are still red hot in pursuit of Wilkerson from the the Rangers after the trade today. Rumor has it that he will be flipped to the Jays for Pitching help (I.E Batista).
I like the trade, it brings us a very solid 1B whose defense is amazing (I vastly underrated it before - I checked his defensive stats and he is very solid).
Jackson probably has #3-4 Upside as a starter, Bush was highly inconsistant last year and wont start this season (no room on the roster), and Gross wasn't going to make it or given a chance on this team.

So right now the Jays still lack a true clean-up hitter. Wells, Overbay, Koskie, Hillenbrand...these guys are all prototypical 3rd or 5th hitters.

Jays have added 3 Major league players:
Ryan, Burnett, Overbay
From my calculations, the jays have 27 players they cannot send to the minors making Major league salary. They WILL be making another move.

I'm going out on a limb here, the Jays will make a trade with the Rangers tomorrow.
Everything I've found tonight, info in articles and message boards lead me to believe this. Heading to Texas: Hudson for sure, maybe Batista (I hope) Or Catalanotto. Coming to Toronto: Either Mench, Wilkerson, or what I'm hoping for - Blalock.
If JP can use Hudson and Batista and get Blalock in return, I'll start planning the parade route.

Another tidbit from bluejayway.ca:
JP was apparently on MLB.com for a chat session:
"Was aksed if he whould be welling to trade orlando now..he told the guy we well see tommrow and walk a way..looks like the o-dog is texas bound..."

Blalock wont be moving.
Check out his home/road splits... ALMOST as bad as Sorianos. You want absolutely no part of that, I promise.
One rumor is Hinske, Rios, Batista for Wilkerson: If this is the deal, I will flip. I can only pray.

Jiggy I think your right with that prediction. JP also when asked in regards to Hudson said we'll have to see tommorow. Blue Jay Way along with many other basbeball boards and rumour mills seem to be fit on a Jays/Rangers trade.
Cat is a possibility he was a Ranger before and a very well liked one. If somehow we ended up trading Batista and Hudson for Kevin Mench, I'd have to say it be JP's worst move as a GM. Blalock or Wilerson would be nice
Tommorow shall be exciting!!

Oh man, if anyone takes Hinske they will be my 2nd favorite team.
If the Jays can hang onto Hudson and nail down Wilkerson, I'll be ecstatic.

Hinske Batsita and Rios for Wilkerson would be awsome. Dumping Hinske's salary first off would be awsome. Then Batista and Rios for Wilkerson strait up is a damn good trade. Wilkerson can play any of the OF positions and is a gamer.

Just saw on Sportsnet that the Orioles have interest in Hinske.
I'm not kidding.

defintley watching sportsnet tonight. To bad the guy at the desk sucks, Flames highlights when the other team scores he can make it sound like a huge defeate and when the Flames score it's o really? I remember when we beat the Canucks in game 7 he didn't show up, they said he was "sick" haha what a homer.
if anybody is intrested in Hinske, please he's all yours. Take him!!

I read on the Globe and Mail website that the Jays may be willing to eat a portion of Hinske's salary now just to get rid of him. That'd be money well spent I think.

OK well since Soriano is now out of Texas, looks like if we swing a deal with Texas it will more then likely include Orlando Hudson. As much as I'd hate to see a guy like that go, I can see him all but gone. A southern boy, who's trade value is the highest itwill EVER be.
For who is up in the air, but Hudson and Batista are as sure as gone.
As for Hinske, I HOPE someone takes that salary off our minds.
The next few days will be interesting.

Should be an interesting day, I would guess the Jays will make another move I wonder if the rumours are true and O-Dog will be sent to Texas with Baptista. As for Hinskie if someone wants him trade him asap.....

Ya riccardi all but said there will be more trades today during an interview yesterday - also saw him say that he knows he will be able to take 12.5 million off the books now to continue adding, probably batista, hinske, +. Still looking for one more bat - if only they would break the bank and that bat would be Manny the team would be so deadly.

Not suprisingly the rumors continue today. The two big names out there today that the Jays are apparently after are Nomar and Milton Bradley.

If it's all about the bat Blalock is the best one being tossed around right now, though I'd be happy with Bradley and don't know what the hell they'd do with such a packed infield if they did bring in Hank. I was really hoping for a genuine power bat but it looks like another 20 80 guy instead. Hopefully with Overbay Koskie and Wells that gives them enough guaranteed weapons and one of the young players steps up their game a bit.
