I told the Mrs. we should have gone to this game.

Back to back 6-2 victories after my wife got our rescue puppy, Zelda, her new Flames bandana. Coincidence?

He’s an expiring contract. If he isn’t traded and he’s not hurting the overall cap to the end of the season what difference does his salary make? besides, he’s currently paid fourth of the Dmen, and a year from now Rasmus makes more than he does currently. And Rasmus is on an ELC so obviously playing above value. So it’s not like its a wasted spot.

Not to say that this is what Ward will do.

Its not illogical. He is overpaid for what he does in his role at this moment. We should be looking for cheaper options for what Hamonic offers us which is a 3rd pairing d man

I’m sure Hamonic is on the block but it’s because he’s an expiring contract and not because of what he makes now, which isn’t that much in the schemes of things. The cap to the end of the year is pretty irrelevant now unless they are trading for someone making, say, $9M prorated.
Would you be happier putting Rasmus and Kylington on the bottom pairing since they make far less?

If you are putting a D man on the roster this year, and choosing between Stone and Hamonic, and assuming there’s room for either choice under the cap (which there is currently) you choose Hamonic every day. They are not comparable players.

I loved the "too easy" by Tkachuk after his beautiful goal.

Honestly whether it's
Giordano-Brodie
Hanifin-Andersson
Kylington-Stone
or with Gio/Valimaki out
Hanifin-Andersson
Kylington-Brodie
Davidson-Stone
Both look like balanced D cores with everyone slotted well. People forget but Davidson was a plus player as a top four guy back in 2016 and while injuries (and Cancer) kind of derailled that, it's not like he lost his talent.

I think a lot of people here underrate both Hamonic and Stone.
Hamonic is a legit top 4 dman and he’s the type of player all teams could use.
Stone is reliable depth that is now on a cheap contract.

My point is do we miss Hamonic? Would a cheaper contract from Stockton be worse?
In fact do we miss Gio right now ? Maybe its time to let go of over paid vets
Ps i am not saying Gio is over paid etc before i get bombarded with replies

I think Hamonic's stay-at-home style would do wonders to stabilize the effects of Kylington's occasional gaffes, and Kylington's speed and great edgework could provide better zone exits than the Hanifin-Hamonic pairing. This would also allow Hamonic to mentor Kylington on the defensive aspects of the game.
Off topic: Sportsnet just had a quote that "in spite of his injury, McDavid is not looking for any special treatment". Well, that would be a first.

We just need to find the right partner for him. It wasn't Brodie and it hasn't been Hanifin.
