I do not agree with the sutble Hamonic bashing here, however, I do wonder what a Hanifin/Andersson pairing would look like...
After Hamonic left the game, these two played together a decent amount and looked good when they did. I wonder if Andersson might be just what Hanifin needs. It's funny to say this, given that they're both so young, but Andersson is just so solid. Despite his youth, Andersson could very well be the stabilizing influence Hanifin needs.
Andersson seems to possess the same drive Tkachuck has. Let these two drive the team going forward. They both simply hate to lose.

I've been wanting to see that pairing for so so long, it could be a staple in the future so lets see more of it now.

Somebody in the coaching staff or a vocal member who is a leader on team deserves credit for that performance last night. I’ve never seen players like Backlund, Monahan, Lucic that engaged and pissed off.

Any news on Hamonic? I know he is not a favourite of CP , but flames cannot afford to lose him with Gio being out.

The team hasn't released anything as of this time that I am aware of. The sun says to consider him day to day.
edit: Reading the ATL, I can't believe some Canuck fans are actually blaming Markstrom.

Must be the frosted tips.
Time to send Johnny and Monahan to Lucic's hairdresser.

That was an awesome game to be at last night. Coach Ward’s 7-minute interview about the team’s compete level must have gotten through to them. I thought everyone played well, but I’ll just say that I was happy to see youngsters like Andersson, Mangiapane, and Dube have such great outings.

I think the opposite, frankly. It’s not a shot against Hanifin - he’s just young, really unpredictable and because he’s with Hamonic, they get matched against top offensive guys a lot, and he’s not been able to meet the challenge on a lot of nights. It’s Hamonic who gets left hanging when Hanifin loses position or gap, or gets fooled badly like against Edmonton. I just don’t think they are a well matched partnership. Brodie was pretty similar and on his less favoured side to boot (that snowed on the one play where he got walked tonight).
I don’t think there’s an easy answer because Kylington is out of the Hanifin/Brodie mould. It might be that Gio/Hamonic would be a better pairing and as Gio is less and less effective over time, it might not be a bad move. They play PK together so they’re not entirely unfamiliar.

My opinion on Hamonic and Hanifin, well defensemen in general is there always needs to be a dynamic of a dominarte in play. Gio is the unquestioned dominate so whoever plays with him has to read off of his play. Brodie works well here as does Andersson. To me, Brodie starts to slip when he has to move up to carry the pair. Andersson works so well because he's a great player but he reads the play and other so well that he easily slides from the dominate to passive very easily and is equally good at both.
Now the problem I see with Hamonic and Hanifin is neither is the dominate and neither is really the passive. It is just not a great fit instinct wise not necessarily skill of talent wise. Hanifin needs to turn the corner and assert himself on the ice but at just 23 I don't see that happening in the within this year. I think it will click soon as to how good he can be and a partner like Andersson could be a perfect fit. Having a partner that can read and react to your play is hugely underrated and can make life so much easier for a great defenseman.
I feel that Andersson and Hanifin should be a pairing now and when Giordano returns. Sets it up nicely for next year.

I think I understand what you are trying to say and I tend to agree with most of it, but this drives me crazy.
"Dominate" is a verb: Giordano can dominate a play, or opposing players, but he cannot be the thing that he is doing.
The word you are probably searching for in this pretty good assessment is "dominant," although even this does not work properly as a replacement in how you have written this because "dominant" is an adjective. A person cannot be "the dominant" anymore than he can be "the big," "the skilled" or "the fast." Giordano is the dominant player on his defence pair, but the only way this works is if there is a noun in the predicate to be modified by the adjective.

The truth of it is that I am a painfully average speller, and an extremely poor typer. It's the best I can do with my index and middle fingers, with very occasional contributions from my fat-ass thumbs.

I'll be at the game tomorrow night and it's interesting that I can barely give away tickets to my Sharks fan buddies even when their team is showing signs of hope.
I curse at the TV as much as the next guy when Johnny gives a puck away at the line, but being a fan is all about cheering your team on through adversity IMO. I read this forum every day and some folks around here need to remember that we are watching a game for entertainment. (frustrating entertainment)
The team has certainly looked flat this week up until last night, but it's a long season and bringing the "compete" every night is not automatic. Every Flame brought it hard last night, loved what I saw from Hanafin, Anderson and Ryan especially.
Anyway, thanks to all the folks who bring thought provoking analysis here every day and GFG!
