I personally hope they keep Kylington and start giving him PP opportunities to develop his offense as I think he has some of the highest offensive potential of the group.

I find Hanifin as our most frustrating dman this season and think Hamonic gets alot of undue blame because of him.
We differ on that front. I think Hamonic has fallen off a cliff. He's not winning battles in the corners or in front of the net, he has the worst breakout pass among our normal top 6 defenders, and puts his partners in bad spots quite often with sloppy d to d passes in the defensive zone.

Wills going on about how Hamonic has been good as of late...and Kent Wilson going all:

For anyone looking for bad news during this segment, Hanifin and Hamonic have been absolutely run over. Hamonic has a team worst XGF% of 42 since Jan.1. Yikes.

He has been caught looking silly but I find that is because of a sloppy Hanifin play that causes a scramble.

I knew posting that comment wouldn’t be well received as Hamonic is the whipping boy on defence this season.

On a side note: In general, I find the breakout strategy problematic as they pass D to D a few times and then move it to a forward who is by then covered. We aren’t trying to rush up the ice and instead slow things down. I hate this strategy because the opposing team has time to get into a better defensive position so we usually just chip it in.

How is expected goals for a good way to judge defensemen? Kent Wilson is such a tool.

Defensemen who prevent rushes, rebounds, and scoring chances while driving play towards the offensive zone have positive expected goals rates.
