I know that movable acousitc panels are totally a thing that exists and are currently installed and working at any number of music and theatrical venues around the world. I imagine it would be totally possible to install them in the new stadium.
It would be pretty sweet for there to be a "regular season" and "playoff" setting to acoustic panels. Not to mention the benefit to music and entertainment events.
Hell, I have no doubt that the panels could be moved in such a way they would focus additional noise at the opposition bench and/or goalie.
Part of the reason the dome feels like a library at times, in my opinion, is because of the roof and general shape or arena. It can be loud, sure, but all things equal it will never be as loud as barns that dont have a roof with weird geometrics and dead spots everywhere. Takes away from the atmosphere.
A building can create a better, louder atmosphere with good acoustics. Rowdy atmospheres are contagious in that if it’s inherently loud people are more inclined to get involved.
IIRC, the tiles in the ceiling specifically absorb sound.

The view from the highest level of the inverted bowl will likely be similar to the Gondola seats at Little Caesars or the Chase Bridges at MSG...
Also similar to the current press boxes at the Saddledome, which some of the media people say are the best in the league because they're right on top of the action.
You wouldn't want to sit there if you're afraid of heights though.
I bet it will end up being a hybrid of the inverted bowl and traditional stadium seating. Similar to both Little Caesars and MSG but with one or two more levels of the "hanging" seats and a smaller second level of stadium seating.
Something like this (based on the Rossetti image)...

Yup, very true. The selling point of the events centre is its ability to draw other construction - tax-profitable construction - into the area. You lose that argument when you sell your most valuable parcel for another stadium.
As far as McMahon replacement goes, my personal thought is they should just rebuild McMahon where it is, basically like so many European soccer stadiums have: one end at a time.
What about a very dumbed down Calgary next for a McMahon replacement? A public Fieldhouse that can be used as a CFL stadium/potentially a future MLS stadium might be really nice in the west village once the remediation question is answered.

The Fieldhouse/Stadium will go where Foothills Baseball Stadium currently is. Much like the three party new arena situation with The City, Stampede, and CSEC. Switch the Stampede with the University and there will be a far more public benefit case by including the U of C Athletics.
You know what we really need in terms of concept, design and architecture?
Public Consultation.
Yeah, we the public should get a vote on every rivet, screw and pour of concrete.
I want to discuss the environmental impact of the cement trucks being used and whether all timber being used is Certified Green Harvested and that there be options in the food court for those who cant eat anything that casts a shadow and has to be kissed by mother Gaia herself.
We have lots to discuss, we'd better get started!!!

Just go and tour the rink in Edmonton and not repeat anything about it.

presumably the City would be responsible for flood insurance as they own the building...
as far as i know, this is no different than the current saddledome or the new BMO center... tenants would have their own insurance for any contents that are not a part of the structure.
With how much money both the city and CSEC is putting down on the new arena. I don't think either party has the appetite for funding a new football stadium to replace McMahon due to the lack of ROI in how low the usage volume would be for it compared to the arena.
A renovated McMahon is the best we're gonna get. And personally I feel that's enough for a CFL team. The fondation is there; just needs to be modernized. It's possible to refresh it enough to make it a good quality stadium.
There is some documents out there that acknowledge some plans that have been considered recently in how a renovated McMahon would look. I've linked them below.

In the report below, it gives details into what the design should consist that we already know about (track, gyms, pool, and new twin arena), possibility of partnering up with the university in funding and building the facility, as well possibly what will be done with McMahon stadium. The McMahon Stadium Society is interested in starting phase 1 of 4 in renovations that would cost $25M. It would be renovated concourses with enhanced and new washrooms, concessions, and circulation.
If you're interested in reading the report to the council committee:
Agreed on this, the CFL/Stamps dont warrant a brand new facility in my opinion. Especially since it is on average 9-10 games a year. Unless the facility is multipurpose, whereby many other teams/orgs are using it, the ROI makes it a no from my estimation. There simply are not enough teams in the region which need a 20k plus stadium to play in within the city.
Put in some money to renovate McMahon and its enough for the CFL.
MLS will never come to Calgary, so its a moot point.
I dont know, but that inverted bowl idea from rosetti seems perfect IMO. Keeps the crowd tight to the action, Sea of Red as equally pronounced as it is now. And sightlines unique to the that building alone.

Flood mitigation is the more important thing. With the work being done around Stampede Park and elsewhere (the Springbank dry dam being the most-important one), the risk of the building flooding should be very low.
Also, if you look at the photos from 2013, the new arena site was mostly untouched by the water even before any flood mitigation efforts were undertaken.
They have also said that the new building will be built without any critical infrastructure below grade where it may get damaged by flood water.
In the end, as a city asset, the city will be responsible for insuring the building against loss if it occurs.
