Here's Emilio Pettersen's shootout goal.

Pettersen is by far and away the best player out there today. Pelletier is pretty unnoticeable. But it's July hockey.

Demetrios Koumontzis is apparently doing very well per Brad Treliving (per Kristen Anderson) and, way less importantly, Derek Wills.

Koumontzis is a buzzsaw. He's shown a lot of tenacity and strength on the puck, but only in short bursts.

Pelletier is on the board. Just made a nice pass to set up invite Montana Onyebuchi for a tap-in.

Unprompted yesterday, #Flames GM Brad Treliving singled out Demetrios Koumontzis as one of the most improved players at camp. We are seeing that today in the controlled scrimmage.

Filip Sveningsson just rifled one top-shelf.

Demetrios Koumontzis is giving Pettersen a run for his money. Just scored an absolutely stunning goal.

I’m becoming such a huge fan of Treliving’s 4th-6th round picks: Mangiapane, Phillips, Petterson, Kouzmontzis

His 7th round picks look pretty good too. Little Z and Wolf are looking good.

For 7th-rounders, I thought Wolf looked okay today, but Sveningsson was more impressive.

Any of the invitees looking contract worthy? Maybe a Van De Leest or McKenna?

In general, I just think Brad Treliving, Tod Button, etc. have just got the right idea about drafting highly skilled forwards in the later rounds. Mangiapane, Phillips, Sveningsson, Zavgorodniy, Petterson, and Koumontzis were all known for having a high skill level when they were drafted. The strategy is clearly paying off, as I think everyone's development is going well.

-Already, I think Mangiapane is either on line 2 or line 3 on opening night.
-Phillips had a solid rookie year in the AHL, and I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that he'll score a point per game in the AHL next season.
-Sveningsson looks poised to play for IK Oskarshamn against men in the SHL next season, so that'll be good for him.
-If Zavgorodniy remains healthy and scores for an entire season the way he began scoring last season, I think he'll dominate the Q next season.
-Petterson and Koumontzis will continue to play leading roles with their colleges while playing against older players.

My three stars from today’s Flames dev camp scrimmage:
1. Emilio Pettersen
2. Demetrios Koumontzis
3. Matthew Phillips

Honourable mention: Josh Nodler, Filip Sveningsson, Martin Pospisil, Rob Hamilton, Jakob Pelletier (second half)

Whenever you see redrafts or rising picks from drafts from Pronman and the like the Flames always seem to have guys being mentioned as moving up.

Most think the Treliving era began in 2015 and in that time the following have all exceeded their draft position or look to be well on their way.

2015
Andersson
Kylington
Mangiapane

2016
Tkachuk
Dube
Fox
Phillips

Parsons
Tuulola

2017
Valimaki
Sveningsson

2018
Koumontzis
Roman
Pettersson

When you add three plus players out of every draft and don't swing and miss on first round picks you're off to the races.

If that 2015 class really steps up this year it will fortify this club's renewed ability to draft and develop late round talent- a hallmark of long term contenders. Keep up the good work!

Just looking at that very helpful list (thanks Bingo), I think its highly possible there are 6 ppl on the opening night roster even if they are not all in the lineup: Andersson, Kylington, Mangiapane, Tkachuk, Dube, and Valimaki. I think it'll be five for sure barring injury. They might have Kylington on the farm again to start the season and have Davidson in the press box to keep Kylington out of the Seattle's sight and give him more minutes.

The thing that stands out most to me about Pettersen is just how thick he is. For all the Gaudreau comparisons we've heard, he looks much stronger on the puck. But he's just as elusive.
