I may be bias because I don’t like Wills to begin with so It doesn’t take much to get me going on him but here’s his takes on goaltending tonight:
-Rittich was the better of the two goalies tonight but there’s some goal Subban would want back
- Backhanded comment on 3 goals on 16 shots.
-Reminder to everyone that Smith is playing well (I would agree outside the Wild game)
- Says he stills thinks of the playoffs started tomorrow he’s be going with Smith
This guy is nauseating. I have a hard time even listening to him any more.
With his ongoing feud with Pinder, it's clear he's chosen that hill to die on until the season is out. No matter how great Rittich does or how many bad goals Smith lets in, his allegiance is with the grizzled vet and his flat brimmed hats. He will cherry pick stats all day long to make a case for the man.
Never mind the fact that he's bottom 5 of all goalies. Never mind the fact that he crapped the bed to try to be a third d-man on Iginla's jersey retirement night.
He's welcome to redeem himself in April and amaze us all, but you can probably count on one hand the number of people outside of Wills that are banking on that happening.

At this point right now, I'd probably start Smith if game 1 was next.
Thankfully, we have another 13 games to have the two guys figure out which is best for the actual game 1.

I still don’t know what Subban was so upset about. The replays showed at the dome he was well out of his crease. I couldn’t even see definitively if there was even contact.
I’ll tell you what pisses me off though. Gallant admitted after the game it was the right call and basically said he just through that challenge out there as it is 50/50 and no one knows what will stick. Replay is ruining the game. This is not the spirit of the rule. If there was a penalty for a goalie Interference review like offside, crap replays like this wouldn’t happen.
Yeah, coaches are just trying their luck half the time now, hoping that one of the refs has a favorable opinion and helps them out. It's nothing to do with enforcing the rulebook within reason.
The "interference" was to the same degree as the last game, since both times it took place outside of the blue paint.
Gallant won the hail mary challenge on the first, and didn't tonight. Props to him I guess on getting one of two good goals called back by preying on the league's subjective inconsistency. These things really need to be yanked in the playoffs or we might see another riot.

Wills is an unofficial mouthpiece of the official team and is repeating what he hears from the coaching staff, I think.

Thank god we won. The way these threads were trending you would think we were headed to a first overall pick. Now we get to rely on a very favorable schedule and put some space between us and the Sharks and get on a roll headed into the playoffs.

Is it me or is Gallant a real whiner? He went on an on about the Backlund goal. Look at the replay for crying out loud. He got the last game handed to him by the NHL, what more does he want?

It’s funny reading the ATL both Vegas and SJ fans thought that backlund goal should count and the oilers fans were blown away by the favouritism shown to the flames on a call that should have been interference.

One of the best games I've ever seen 3M play. Pure dominance all game. Love seeing them rip it up like that!
Nice to see Tkachuk break out of his slump in a massive way. That's how you do it! A shame Johnny couldn't score on the between the legs pass. Easily would have been one of the plays of the year. Too add to that, huge huge save by Subban. Subban likes like a little kid behind his mask. I've always like him but I'm glad the Flames have his number. Was quite a relief when I saw Fleury wasn't in net.
Good game for the Flames to reclaim 1st place in the West and division. Let's hope they can tear it up at home.
Here's the sportsnet clip of Subban's temper tantrum:
That was a pretty dumb thing to do, the refs will remember that, hopefully he gets the odd game in the playoffs. He could be getting the Burrows treatment going forward. He could never get a call his way after he trashed Foucett.
Fantastic game and the 3m line was just rolling. Sweet goal by Eat Bread, such control sitting on the back of his skate blades to get Subban to over committ.
Monahan is a problem right now, although Lindholm has gone missing too. So many times that JH was in the Vegas zone all alone as the other two couldn't keep up. Him and Mony may have been line mates for 4 years but when does that loyalty start costing you goals, if tonight had been a loss that time could have been now and a change would be needed. As it was they won, so they get a small reprieve, but something isn't right.
