I’m making the opposite point if you take the meaning of the second sentence.

Things like “some people just need killing” seems over the top.
This was a hate crime, he said white people attacked him.

Good the guy is a major idiot, He tried to use racial tensions to move his career forward, and he's shown no remorse.

I mean he pretty much lost his career, he's a convicted criminal and his name is now a punchline, it seems like the consequences are more than adequate to fit the crime even without whatever sentence they give him.

This guy is a special kind of scum he exploited peoples decency and good graces for personal gain plus he made it much harder for actual victims. If anything he is getting off easy.

Black Lives Matter stands with Jussie Smollett after verdict
Quote:
After the verdict was announced late Thursday, BLM Los Angeles leader Melina Abdullah told TMZ that its stance hasn’t changed and Smollett still has the organization’s full support.

Came here for the Chappelle references; leaving satisfied.

"Mr. Smoullier, please tell me what happened. You left the house at 2 am—2 am? It was minus-16 degrees... okay... You were walking? You were walking. Allllright... And, and where were you going? Subway!? Sandwiches!?"

Yeah, Chappelle's bit had me howling.

"You see, Joussie Smoullier is gay, and he is black; not just French."

That BLM quote is simultaneously the most insane and least shocking thing I've read all day.

BLM is really reaching for idiocy with that quote. How could anyone put that out and not be laughed at? High schoolers can see flaws in that logic. So dumb.

We all have narcissists in our lives who are constantly seeking validation for some identity they want to create for themselves. It's rare that their actions get them international spotlight and a guilty verdict instead of just raised eyebrows and rolling eyes from friends. This example was narcissism on steroids!

Jussie Smollett isn't happy with the verdict, but he's not beating himself up about it.
