Gaudreau just had one of those nights where he was just all around it.
Flames have a great team.

The only insane thing is how good Tampa is. 10 points between division leader and wildcards is pretty normal

Nah there is only 5. Count the knuckles or gaps between the toes instead of the tips. There is a weird optical illusion going on with the tips. That said I once sat beside a lady on a plane for 3 hours, she had 6 toes.

they really do have so much going for them. If you try to be objective... they are actually a fantastic team. My favourite part is the overall work ethic for the most part is pretty high (even though the 1st tonight......) and they never quit. That combined with skill is what gets you first place.
I can confidently say that, aside from when I was closer to a toddler (so don't remember)- this is the best Flames team I have seen.

Yet those jack asses in Edmonton think the Oilers will play at that pace in the second half.
Tampa is lapping the field right now. I'd be cool with an 04 cup rematch....our 15 year cycle is due. This time it's in.

me: "flames game - 4pm, then going out to a movie"
wife: "who do the flames play?"
me: "detroit" (loooonnnng pause while looking at my wife) "red WINGS!"
wife: "ahhhhhhh! so that's why you were ok with wings for dinner!"

Really great comeback win. Smith played well, and the top line was dominant. Take away for me is 2 important points on the road in a game they should have won and did win.
But I get why the team has been talking about starting on time. Just not where they want to be, and need to be, in the first period. And I've really liked Bennett overall this year, and lately in particular, but his -2 and weak defensive play on the first was no good. Has to be better.

This may have been mentioned somewhere but a crazy stat is 3 highest scorers with lowest PIMs in the league is our top line. Monahan and Lindholm with 6 and Gaudreau with 8

for as much as people bitch about Calgary getting no respect (like Giordano not getting invited to the All-Star game which I find hilarious)- Tampa gets even less.
Imagine being a Tampa fan. Almost never talked about. By far the best team in the NHL.

I liked the look on Gaudreau's face on the bench near the end of the 1st period. He looked pissed and you could see the synapses firing off in his head thinking about what had to be done to win. He looked angry, but also very cerebral and calculating.
The guy hates losing so much, I love it.

Johnny Gaudreau doesn’t play for Carolina.

You're wife made you dinner while you watched the game and then went to a movie, and you didn't even share your plans in advance - forget replacing my Phaneuf jersey with a Tkachuk, I think I'm getting a "BC-Chris".
